McKinsey & Company I am an EM at a boutique firm specializing in strategy for B2B tech cos (e.g. Microsoft, aws). I have 4 years consulting exp (3 years pre MBA, 1 year post) with TC of 220K.
I am considering applying for McK as I am currently capped on progression at my firm for a while. Any insight if it would be worth entering the Associate position or at this point I'm too deep into consulting to justify stepping back down

Hi I've joined Harman in May but hasn't been assigned to any project yet. I've asked hr and reporting manager they said they're working on it and there's nothing to be worried about However I just want to know if there's anything I should be concerned about what's the bench policy? I think yes. A finance degree always would help simply for street cred, but until you actually know how to model real estate pricing, development, etc., a basic finance degree does nothing more than show you can use excel. I totally echo the previous poster and would recommend courses that focus on the specifics. During quarantine a couple of years ago before the airports opened up again I took an online suite of courses on CRE financial modeling that were super helpful to refresh what I learned a while ago.
Yes - 100%; make sure you take CRE modeling classes and get Argus certified before you recruit
I will add another note. Degree doesn’t matter as long as you can demonstrate interest in CRE, modeling learnt prior to starting the job, and good general MS office skills. If you are pivoting (even with modeling classes and certification), why you want to move into CRE, given this is a niche space.
I think yea but you need to show that you have know basic accounting concepts, financial modeling experience (even just a little) and show of interest in RE finance
I’m a lawyer by trade, but I also went to business school. I concentrated in finance there. I will tell anyone the best take away from b-school was mastering excel and learning how to read and interpret balance sheets. (As an Econ major they never taught me this suff as an undergrad.) And the street cred was also appreciated when I could do this but a bunch of English majors at my first big law firm could not! 🤣
