For what it's worth VP @Alix is entry level post MBA position. Don't make decision on title alone. Some B-School classmates went to Alix and love it. They were auto background in ops/engineering. High pay, high hours. From what I've heard the consultant per partner ratio is lower, so they pay more and work more on typical engagements
I got a 30 k TC pay increase when I jumped ship more than 2 years ago.
It is the same role for both. Alix has inflated role titles. McKinsey provides better training though. If you are fairly junior McKinsey will be better for your development.
Bonus potential is higher at AP but McKinsey has better benefits and business class travel for shorter flights
I think those benefits do not beat the TC that ap will provide
I heard McK implementation had a bad brand. I spoke with a few ppl from PwC that mentioned they cleaned up some projects McK I got fired from. Might be worth doing some due diligence on LinkedIn which practitioners seem more aligned with the background/caliber you are looking for
That is very unlikely as McKinsey implementation does not do tech implementation or stand-along studies. McK Implementation is the practice name for experienced hires who are part of regular McK teams but sometimes stay longer after most of the team roles off to provide coaching and Sr Leadership support
It depends on the practice (EI is like saying management consulting). Within, you’ll find industry and functional groups.
I can speak of mine, TMT. It’s high paced but I’ve really enjoyed both the people and the work.
AlixPartners digital will be different than EI. Happy to answer any questions on EI... do you have a good idea of what Mck implementation day to day would be like?
