Writing samples for job applications -
I have worked as a public defender and government and a regulatory agency since graduating five years ago. I am applying for new jobs and am wondering what I can use as writing samples. I would like to use an appellate brief I have written for the department and several motions/memos have I have written in criminal cases. If I am careful to change all identifying information in them, is it ok to use these?

Any googlers that can offer a perspective? Cleared all interviews for TPM. No HC review yet, as the recruiter says the new process is to find a match before HC. Had conversations with 3-4 teams so far, many times great feedback/compliments even during the team matching chat, but no successful match yet. I am told that there were internal candidates that fit the role better. The wait on since May, starting to lose hope now. Is team matching supposed to be this hard?

I was interviewed for a role with a bank almost 3 months back. Till date I havent heard back on the outcome. Do you think it makes sense now to drop a note to one of the interviewers to get an update?

I have an interview for a technical writer position in the chemistry field. Coming from a lab based chemistry role I'm use to getting technical questions about my lab experience. Dumb question, I want to send money to my brother and am thinking Zelle to his cell # is the best option as it seems to be free and easy for him to access (vs a visa gift card).

Any potential hangups? I'd rather not tip him off ahead of time if possible as he'd probably be embarrassed to accept it but also don't want it to get lost or for him to not be able to access it for any reason.

Am I the only one left at the end of the month trying to bill 10hour days to meet hours because I slacked off at the beginning of the month? It’s a vicious cycle. Then the end of the month hits and I’m so exhausted that I need to take it was the next week... and the cycle continues

I’m so bad at writing the background/ facts section for briefs… it always gets heavily edited and no one is giving me constructive feedback other than “advocate more”. In contrast, my legal argument section is generally without edits. For context, first defense lit job post appellate clerkship. Is this normal?? Any tips for getting better other than “advocating more”?
