A third party recruiter who was looking to forward my portfolio asked me about how much my current salary is. I remember reading somewhere saying that’s not allowed to be asked during an interview. Is it different when it’s a third party recruiter and it’s not an “official interview”? Assuming it shouldn’t have been asked, how should I have answered without coming across as impolite? 🤔

High earners - what do you spend on rent?

I feel like the rules of thumb don’t really apply past 100k. I’m currently at ~275k and paying ~2.5k in rent, looking at some places around 4k but it feels irresponsible to pay that much even though I can probably afford it. What are you all paying?

Advice please! I have $200k in a savings account (on top of 6 mos. emergency $) and plan to retire in 10 yrs. I'm VERY risk averse and would stash it in a CD but rates are so low. What to do? I don't want to risk losing $ but feel I am in a way by not doing anything with it...

Need some help/advice from the bowl:
We are aiming to buy a brownstone in New York and it’s listed for $2.5M. Bank (first republic) is requiring a 25% down payment ($625K) and if we collect all of our cash/savings we are able to put $400K together so missing $225K. Does the bowl have other ideas or banks (who require lower down payment) that we could consider ? Any tips/ advice would help. Thanks!

Does anyone have recommendations on an approach to get frequent feedback on employee sentiment across your teams?

Prepping for a CRO interview with the CEO of a smaller tech company (approx 70 employees) experiencing explosive growth. They want someone to run sales, alliances, & marketing, with heavy influence around product development so not really a traditional CRO role. Working on prep and curious if anyone has any ideas around questions I should be prepared to answer? Questions I should ask? Seems like an interesting role that should be a good fit with my background. Other thoughts?

Thoughts? What could be going on here?

I am a Senior Project Manager for a custom estate builder. We build homes over $50mm in construction costs for the ultra wealthy. I have been with this firm for 15 years and make $350K annual. There is only one partner and the sole proprietor who is essentially retired. They split ~$5MM in profits per year. I have reached the limit on title / career progression in my company - nowhere upwards to go. I highly doubt they will ever partner anyone else into the business. Do I leave?
