It has been my experience that homes back then were built better and with better quality materials. Obviously there are exceptions and if it was not properly maintained, it doesn't matter if the quality was better. Usually has beautiful hard wood floors.

The materials are amazing back then. I have 50s house. The wood for studs is so hard it kept bending the nails. I had some new studs I used to re arrange a wall. The nails went in like butter. Wood floors beautifully restored. Obviously all new windows and roof and electrical.
Foundation and pier and beak style homes always should get checked with any purchase.
