For background checks... who do you guys use and would you be willing to share monthly membership fee/cost per check? I currently use HireRight and have been happy overall... but I don't feel that it's very competitive at $48/check. Thanks in advance!

We use GoodHire, but I think that might be slightly more expensive. Love the service, though, so it's worth it to us.

This is what we use as well and we really like it.

It's actually one of the cheaper ones that I've used in the past.

I think HireRight might actually be one of the cheaper ones out there. Unfortunately that means it's also fairly annoying to use lol.

ADP is $65 a check and slow. Three weeks turnaround sometime

Currently 23, first year post-grad. I’m currently putting about 20% into Roth 401k, nothing into Roth IRA. Originally had traditional 401k but just switched current / future contributions to Roth 401k. Company 401k match only 6%.

Should I be maxing our Roth IRA and then focus on 401k contributions?

HR vent of the day - New president of the company wrote a policy without my knowledge and released it to the employees. The policy basically says that they shall not park within a specific area due to construction but should park in 2 other lots (there a 4 lots total). I get a message this morning to write up DAs for people parked in the 4th lot that was not discussed in the policy. I refused because the policy was vague and really open ended. Apparently I’m playing word games and nit picky. 🤦‍♀️

Has anyone gone to SHRM conferences? And is anyone headed to the one in New Orleans this June? What have your experiences been and is it worth the money? Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture

Question for those that are familiar with how severance pay works. I received a package a while back and was paid bi-weekly severance. The payments ended a few months ago but just the other day I had a severance deposit. Curious if it’s possible to get additional payment at this point or does this look like a mistake? I know the logical answer might be to just call but I’ll be honest in that I am still looking for a job and this would definitely help me. Thanks for your advice!
