Has anyone here gone through the Goldman Sachs early careers process? Would love to know more about the interviews and timeline for a early careers in Sales at Goldman

Does anyone feel as if they are wasting time in their current role? Does it make you anxious that you are “falling behind”? How do you cope with it? I am struggling to deal with those emotions. I am actively looking for the next role but the job market, interview process, rejections, etc aren’t helping. Thank you.

Was recently contacted by HR to invite me to interview/apply for internal position. Has anyone been through a similar process either at UBS or another firm? How long did the process take you? Any suggestions?

Should I shave my beard for a CB interview? Been wearing a trimmed/near beard for a few years now in consulting. Wondering if I need to shave it for a Corp banking interview. I know IB is typically more struck about these things.

How do you guys deal with interviewers who are not genuine/“nice” to you during interviews? I just had an interview with this COO from a small crypto firm, was pretty excited going into the call... until he started off asking me random questions to test my knowledge about the space, which I appreciate but what made me feel very uncomfortable was the tone and the way he presented... I’m in Finance trying to break into that space so obviously I don’t have professional experience there..

Came across some people who leave their firm for less than half a year on Linkedin.

When you’re interviewing for a new job and trying to read up about the things you don’t know but you don’t know what you don’t know 😞

I’ve been going on interviews lately but not hearing back and I wonder if it’s to some extent because I started note taking during interviews. When the interviewer is speaking I usually take notes on what he says and then towards the end I usually have questions I wrote down when they were speaking based on what they said. Could taking notes be perceived as negative because my head is down?

Do you still send “thank you” notes after an interview for more senior roles? If so, are they shorter thank you notes vs. the ones sent when applying for junior roles?

What did you have to go through to get your current role and how did you prepare for it ? Almost every interview now has an excel case, multiple rounds, different types of testing ?

How to handle internal $ negotiations? Interviewing for a new role, was initially hired on and under “leveled” w/r/t role, seniority, compensation @ top asset manager. Former manager didn’t appreciate or understand sell-side levels/titles when I was brought in. Current comp is huge point of frustration, but up for something better aligned with long-term goals. how do you go about interviews in private equity given the deal information at your current firm is not public?

I’ve been actively interviewing with other firms. They all want me to do take home tests and presentations... It’s been a little bit hard to focus on my current job because of that. I’m really trying to land a new offer because I’m not happy at my current firm. I feel very bad for my team though because I feel like I am not helping as much as I should... is this normal? How do you balance interviewing and work?

The best part of external interviews is that no after interview thank you notes are necessary.

What kind of comp can you expect in strategic finance or Corp dev associate level roles in tech? Have been interviewing for some roles and am not sure what to expect for cash comp. def will have an equity component too although not sure how much of that either

I had an interview for an senior mgmt role at a bank and the interview was going very well. Beginning of the interview, she mentioned my resume was very impressive. She also said I was extremely intelligent and that I had a bright future; however they’re interviewing people with over 26 years of experience and would want someone more seasoned. I’m feeling super discouraged. Why bother with my resume at all?

When Hiring Manager reached out to me saying his/her assistant will reach out regarding a specific time for interview, how long should I wait? Before HR reached out to me in mid December, but lost in the middle, and suddenly got back with a phone call last week. I followed up after 3 work days, is it pushy for HR? I graduated Dec 2017 with a finance degree. I left my first job after 6 months after a new job offer and sadly the new job was not all gold so quit after a year in 2019 (harassment and toxic environment). I have been unemployed since. I had some interviews but no call backs. Don’t know if I should go back to school or what to even do at this point. Had my resume redone as well and interview coaching.

Hi everyone, I have an initial interviewing coming with an IM consulting firm for an associate position on Tuesday.. I’m really interested in the position but I feel like I’m not so qualified.. (YOE etc..) any tips for overcoming this? I know if i got the job I’ll do well once I learned tho! What’re the tricks you used to convince interviewers that you can do the job albeit the “mismatch” on experience? Thank you so much!
