I’ve been on the bench since being laid off in May due to Covid. I continue to get interviews and final rounds, however nothing solid has closed. How screwed am I?

How many rounds of interviews are there typically at BlackRock? I’m up for a director level role n Marketing. Just finished two great rounds. Curious as to how many more there might be.

I’m in a final round interview with EY for entry level roles. Does it affect me negatively if my recruiter knows that I’ve offer from multiple other big 4 firms? I received a form to fill where It asks for any offers that I already have.

Multiple interviews and a case study that was sent over a month ago ... was told I would hear back last week and they’ve gone silent. I’ve followed up multiple times ... so not too sure if I’m getting ghosted or what

I am a background check away from putting in my notice. KEEP grinding if you’re miserable and/or have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. This took a lot of ghosting and interviews+offer letters being taken off the table due to COVID. Stay humble and you’ll be next. Take a midday walk and schedule some coffee meetings to expand your network and stay sane.

Hey everyone. Recently interviewed at a registered investment advisor, 10 person shop. What’s everyone’s views on hand written thank you notes vs emails post first round interview? Both people I met with gave me their business cards without me asking which I think is a good sign. Usually like doing emails vs hand written notes because you can get a response or further conversation vs possibly not hearing anything from a hand written note.

What’s the best website to see real salary information? I am interviewing for a lateral move on a Institutional Sales position and want to see how much people are getting paid so I don’t get screwed.

I tried looking at the H1B salaries, but there is only 1 for 2020 at this new bank.

With positions on hold due to Covid, how often is too often to follow up with an email? I have followed up once already, but don’t want to be a pest. Just want to be clear I want the position. (For reference, job interview process started 3 months ago and followed up 2 months ago)

Have an upcoming interview and want to know if it’s worth it coming from FFI.

Currently working as a Senior Associate in Corporate Finance for a publishing company. Interviewing for start-ups to join the FP&A team leveraging my current FP&A skills. Made it to final rounds of two well known NYC start up companies. A senior leader (chief revenue officer) of one of our business units has pitched a Chief of Staff role for me where I would help him run the business, manage his direct reports and perform strategic analysis.

A little torn...Thoughts?

Why has it been so dang hard to move from banking to a strategy role in my industry or expertise? Or a start up? 90% of my applications have passed on me before even giving me a first round interview! I’ve been on over 6 deals, and wanting out and it’s been extremely frustrating! Any insight or advice?

Guys what is the big step up from Associate to VP? Currently at a boutique but interviewing for a relatively big and well known bank so I am a bit clueless on how a VP would operate in a much bigger environment than mine.

As a new grad at my BB in back office, how do I network effectively with people in roles in FO? Anyone who has participated at the PLD program from HBS? I’m considering applying (10 years of experience at PE), but I’m still wondering whether an EMBA would be better a choice. It’s an expensive program, especially considering most of it is online based, but I could get my employer to pay for a large part of it. I have a modeling test on Wednesday with a solar farm developer. On the phone interview that proceeded this, the CFO mentioned that these pro forma solar farm models are more nuanced than most. He mentioned bonus depreciation and tax credits among other things. Are there any good resources that I can use to learn about solar farm/renewable energy modeling? Also any general tips or things I should be aware of. If anyone could share a model too that would be awesome! Thanks for the help.

Why do firms emphasize the DCF approach so much during interviews when precedents are the ones used most in practice?
