I’m working in a large fund; market neutral public market strategy funds; am about to be recommended for a promotion to associate. However, an analyst position just opened up internally in Credit, which is where I aspire to be for the next ten years. More growth and more intellectual challenge. I’m conflicted about applying for a lateral transfer and losing out on a promotion. Will I be missing out a promotion or should I negotiate a promotion as part of my application to this role ?

I have a fifth and final interview this week for a director level role at Blackrock. It’s with the hiring manager, who I’ve spoken to before, and a big MD. Any advice for this last meeting? I really want the job.

So I’ve been interviewing since November and my last round was the second week of December. Should I be freaking out that I haven’t heard back? Cuz I’m totally freaking out.

I've been connected with a recruiter for a couple of years, and she assisted me with my search recently. However, I am on the verge of receiving a job offer without using her - would it be inappropriate to ask her if she has any insight on the group? I generally trust her - I've told her when I had other interviews in the past and she followed up/asked how they went/etc.
I just don't want to potentially ruin the opportunity (if that's possible?) or have her try to dissuade me from taking it.

How to find buddies to practice cases with? Graduated in 2017 and have some consulting interviews lined up! Is there an app or a website where you can find buddies to do live cases with?

Currently work as a credit analyst at a mutual fund, really want to switch to equity research. I haven’t had good luck getting interviews. I am taking the 3rd level of the CFA in May, hoping to pass then. Will finishing the CFA help me get more interview opportunities? Would be great to hear from charterholders or any others !

Does anyone work in Direct Lending? Interviewing with a fund for an analyst role (I’m 1.5 years into an analyst program). They’re saying $130k all in, but not sure if that’s in line with the rest of industry

Do I list transaction experience when applying for a “corporate strategy” role? What does corporate strategy even consist of? From the job description it looks like a mix of FP&A and supporting the Corp dev team.

Switching firms before applying to business school?
I'm currently trying to figure out whether I should stay at my current firm (good job, okay comp) or take a job at a different firm (better comp, somewhat better job, better location). I'm in the final round of interviews.
I plan on applying to business school in the fall of 2021. Do you think it's foolish to switch jobs this close to applications? Should I tell them I plan on going to b-school? Will it hurt recommendations?

Hi everyone, I have an IB case interview tomorrow morning where I have to prepare transaction comps and do an LBO analysis. My background is in real estate acquisitions, so I have experience with finding building comps/building out proformas but haven’t done it for companies before. I have 24 hours to complete the case once I receive it, does anyone have any recommendations for any resources and/or preparation materials? Thanks so much in advance!

Working thru a case study for a final round Associate Valuation role - instructions were very vague but it’s basically broken out into 3 parts. First, explain the differences between company X and Y. Second, review their historical financials (last 5 years). Third, compare their historical financials. Looking for advice/recs on how to approach steps 2 and 3. Are there certain metrics better or worse for points 2 & 3? Should I combine both parts? If you’d like the PM that’s fine, thanks all!

I just started a role last month but a role I’m more interested popped up at a company I was interviewing at in March. I don’t want to seem like a job hopper because I truly am not one. This role more clearly aligns with my personal and career goals. Is it a bad look to reach out if the other one may have disappeared because of COVID? Is the risk worth the reward?

Hi I am preparing for some finance interviews and am trying to get familiar with the market approach. How do you pick multiples? Is it based on the company’s performance against peers? What if you are valuing a private company? Then how would you compare your performance against peers? Do you usually just pick the median or average?

I started a new job in the last two weeks and I’m curious if second thoughts are common. I think it’s too soon to tell if this is the right fit for me work wise, but it’s not exactly what I’m looking for. I was interviewing for my dream job at my dream company before C-19 made it go silent. I know I’m lucky to have a new opportunity but I’m worried I won’t put my best foot forward because I’m not excited about it. I may just be exhausted from burnout and a quick turn around.
