Looking for insights into Milbank, Willkie, and Cahill, NYC offices, mainly the Lit groups.
Who is Cahill’s main competitor? Milbank? Wonder if anyone’s gonna match. Such beautiful even numbers. Nice job Cahill. https://abovethelaw.com/2021/12/cahill-bonus-2021/…
Word on the street - Cahill just announced retention bonuses via phone. Can you confirm!
Any insights into Crowell and/or Cahill? Crowell seems like a better fit personality wise, but I'm not thrilled about their two-tiered pay system (which just seems like a punishment for having a s…
Any thoughts on Cahill Gordon’s corporate - leveraged finance practice? Work quality for a second year? Hours? Weekends? Etc?
What is an average billable year for associates at cahill or other firms with no minimum billing requirement?
I’m seeing Vault numbers referenced here when mentioning firms (V10, V20, etc.). Are law students/junior lawyers still thinking that some comparatively less profitable firms (e.g., Jones Day, Baker Mc…
Cahill Gordon announced earlier today. Inappropriately only commended the efforts of mid-levels and senior associates in the email and noted they had to deal with challenging circumstances. They gave …
Considering doing Georgetown's Securities & Financial Regulation LLM program. Know a handful of lawyers at Cahill, Skadden, Sidley, Mayer Brown, & the SEC who swear by it. Not sure if it&#…
Looking to resign tomorrow. My direct manager has been out sick but the head of my team is in. He hired me initially before we hired my current direct manager. Does it matter who I resign to? I don’t want to disrespect anyone but also I am trying to resign before they lay me off and tomorrow the head of our team placed an early morning mtg. Smells like a lay off…
Let’s talk industries: what are some of your favorite industries to work HR in and why? Opposite question, what’s your nightmare HR industry?
Any insight into Salesforce Account Manager: Enterprise? Is this different than an enterprise AE? Insight into comp range?
I get the rule of “bill everything”. But I worry that I don’t capture enough time. I use a timer program that is helpful and I know I’m working but can’t figure out what to input in the billing to reflect. What are some things you bill for that maybe some people tend forget to include? (Billable and nonbillable)
Ha, in reference to the earlier post.
Hello fishes, I’m getting a chance to be a DEI program manager. Can I get an opinion if this is a good career to build on? What’s the scope, future prospects etc.
Anyone willing to take a minute to look at/critique my resume? I’m looking for mid level Talent Acquisition positions. Would greatly appreciate it!!
Didn't even last a week in insurance defense before putting in my two weeks and making the move to a plaintiffs firm.
Working on a presentation re. legal ethics in 2020. Anyone heard of anything interesting we should include?
Does a senior counsel have the power to ask recruitment to hire you as an entry level associate or that simply up to partners?
Any tips on how best to go about asking for a raise? Or how to even set that meeting up without causing a stir. I feel confident that I’m owed a good $30k raise and can defend that. But I am a little worried. Seems possible that as soon as I even ask my boss (equity partner) for a meeting to discuss my salary and future goals he may just call me straight in his office and want to shoot it down. Also, I like my firm and don’t intend to leave if I don’t get my ask, at least not anytime soon.
I’m back to having no billable work again. My department almost completely dried up when covid started, so I’ve been relying on work from other busy departments at my firm to keep me busy since March. I feel like I start a new job every couple of weeks and am constantly begging for work. I’m just exhausted. Can anyone else relate?
I lost two major pieces of business this month, for different reasons. Next month my firms revenue will be cut 60%. Just a little freaking out a bit. I know there are Ebbs and flows.
Anybody read this article? It’s about professor Amy Chua having get togethers with some of her students at YLS. The article focuses on Covid-related gatherings but explains that she had to promise to no longer have events at her home where she invited students and apparently people … gasp … drank alcohol. Since when are law students treated as children? From the sound of it you’d think she was having high school students come hang out. I mean, I was 26 when I went to law school. WTF? https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/07/us/amy-chua-yale-law.html?referringSource=articleShare

I am a SC in Deloitte US and thinking of moving to Canada. I don't hold a US passport, is there a way i can get a work visa in canada maybe through Deloitte or other big 4? If yes, What type of visa is it and how to apply?
I am an outgoing, friendly woman in a group of mostly men. Lately I have become an emotional dumpster for the few women in my group. They are constantly coming to my office for advice or asking to socialize out of work. This is eating up so much of my time and the pressure to maintain a friendship with coworkers is too much. How would you navigate this situation without alienating yourself from the only women in your group?
My first time hosting a birthday party for my 6 year old. What is normal for party favors these days? The one party we went to recently gave out an entire play doh kit (like probably $12 each for each kid) - is that the norm these days? I don’t want to keep up with the Joneses, but a couple of friend in our group likes to throw lavish parties and I am wanting to keep things super simple. Like balloons from Amazon, home made cake, pizza.. so confused on what the expectations are.
I have never seen HRs in person.. Only in mails
Sending "Thank you" notes after an interview - pros & cons? Personally, I feel that thanking for their time verbally at the end of the interview suffices. And restating the same thing afterwads in an email looks like trying to schmooze one's way in. Thoughts?
Anyone going to AYDE in Orlando tomorrow?

I’m getting frustrated with my team, I send numerous status updates and we meet 3x for hotsheet and yet no one knows where things are...any suggestions re: how to get my team on track.
I want to jump-start the new year with inspiring stories about semi-well-known people: athletes, business people, inventors, social media influencers- who our students can identify with and look up to. Any ideas?
