How do your companies recognize technical (e.g., STEM) accomplishments? I’ve heard of old school things like fellowships and “Distinguished Engineer” titles. Wondering what other places do now. I’m struggling to see where my path leads if I don’t want to be a people manager and instead focus on becoming a top technical IC instead. Are there clear paths for that anymore?
How long, on average, did it take you to study before you could pass the PHR/SPHR exam? Did you think it was worth it?
What’s a good way to advocate for yourself as an employee? I struggle with how to make the work I’m completing/my efforts sound impactful.
Having read the Outward Mindset from the Arbinger Institute I wonder if any of you have used it in your business to help with a cultural mind shift? If so, do you have thoughts you can share? Thanks!!

When an employee complains about their manager how do you address it?...The employee was not reporting any harassment allegations; it was the standard “I do everything and make my boss look good while my boss does nothing all day.” There is really nothing to work off of here and I don’t know how to respond other than “sorry that sucks” and “what do you suggest be done?”
Has anyone written the CHRL Employment Exam in Canada - Ontario specifically. What was your experience like and how did you prepare?
Currently, we're using JazzHR for our ATS and importing new hires in ADP WorkForce Now, our HRIS and where we run payroll. JazzHR has been great, and ADP has mostly been a pain. We're also using Concur for expenses. Just did a demo with Paycom and was generally really pleased, except the ATS which seems really bare bones compared to JazzHR. Is it worth trading the ease and functionality of our standalone ATS to get an all-in-one solution?
If your competitor reached out to ask “how do you sell against us” would you tell them? They should already know... or at least have an idea.
What do you do on Monday to get your week set up? I feel like I spend so much time helping my team get their pipelines in shape for the week / setting up a plan.
What are your tips and tricks, go-to sites, etc. to stay up to date on the latest HR legal and compliance information?
Just venting. I’m tech, and many employees (like 85%) think that being a jerk is a badge of honor and their EQ is like at high school level, so talking to them about diversity issues is like banging head against the wall. They insist that any diversity hire is costing a job to another person with PhD. On top of it, another fancy thing to do in tech is to hate HR. So the conversations usually are like “Oh, you’re in HR, I understand now why you have such a stupid opinion”.
Trying to work with my team in a remote environment by getting them more disciplined. What's your Monday routine?
What's your organization's stance on surveys? I've been in the HR department of my organization for a year and a half, we've never sent any type of engagement, satisfaction, NPS, etc. survey to employees. I've just been made aware that our Executive team and our CEO are not a fan of employee surveys so that's why we don't do them. Is this...normal? Or is it dysfunctional as an HR department to not be doing surveys?
I’m planning to buy the study materials for the SHRM-CP certificate through Amazon. What are the best ones to obtain?
What activities do yall use to build rapport with your customer base? As an example, the old troed and true method of inviting a cuatomer to a round of golf. Currently, I am trying to see if my base is into mountain biking.
Has it always been that if your company books a hotel for an event, you do not get points because you did not pay for it? This is new to me, just happened at The W ATL.
Is it wrong for wanting some form of appreciation? A simple “thank you” would suffice. It’s good to celebrate the small wins as it boosts team morale... but no, can’t show any gratitude in PA. 😬
Arrived at the airport to book a $100 flight on United and was told there was an extra $140 booking fee. Was having a huge shouting match with the counter agent before I woke up from my nightmare...
Interviewing for a BB lateral role in SF. Live in NYC. Is the entire process done via Skype or do they generally fly you out for final rounds?

You know what my prayer is as a WOC? Please God let Donald Glover & Jordan Peele start an ad agency and hire me. Swear to Christ, Buddha, and Shiva.
3 years in industry,3 years in consulting(strategy and operations). Been thinking about entering PE, but it seems impossible to break into given background (not mbb). Thoughts?
Someone posted a similar question, but what subscriptions/services have you purchased to make your life outside of teaching (or in the classroom) easier?
I think I'm done with southwest. Can't take the passengers, seating methodology, and general lack of options. Thought flying a budget airline wouldn't make a difference..stroopwafel here I come
With us still living in a remote environment and employee appreciation month coming up on October - interested in what you are thinking of doing? Always harder when we can’t all physically be together. Many thanks
would MBB be open to an unpaid co-op as I wait to start my industry job in December? I was hoping to transition after a year, but now will not have experience prior to interviewing in september
What life and relationship advice would you give your early 30s self in hindsight? I’m F in my early 30s, got disappointed by someone who I thought was the love of my life. I wanted a life and family together and ex walked out of my life. Currently finding my own joy and rebuilding life at this stage in life.
How many hours a day do you actually spend concepting ideas with your partner? Its zero at my job, they just want work produced; any concepting has to be done in my own time.
