Solo who started pre-pandemic and as a result never transitioned into a traditional office setting. I enjoy work from home and it keeps overhead obviously low. I can afford to move into an office now (and planned to do so last spring before the shutdown). I find myself hesitating to make the leap. I’ve found most clients prefer zoom consultations or house calls. I practice in PI and cannabis. Curious to hear others’ thoughts on the necessity of a brick and mortar post pandemic. Thanks.
Good morning, I work for Solugenix placing top notch candidates at companies throughout the US. I just started at Solugenix so anyone who needs any assistance either finding a job or looking for candidates please let me know. Thanks and have a great day.
Is experience in Labor and Employment applicable at all in Executive Comp & Benefits? If not, what are some resources that I can read that gives me a primer on that area of law?
I’m a 2016 grad making $120k in a small to mid-size regional firm. I’m based in Nashville. My firm’s management is trying to survey other small to mid-size regional firms to get a feel for where the comp is now, especially in light of the big law increases that are making headlines, and to see just how far below market we may have fallen. Any additional data points from smaller regional firms (especially if you have a presence in Nashville or across the SE) would be appreciated! TIA
What’s the most petty thing you’ve seen a firm do to an attorney who is lateraling out? Mine just revoked my renewal paperwork and payment for 2021-22 bar dues, even though they’ve already submitted it I’ll still be an employee when they’re due (7/1). Money’s not the issue. They can dock the $400 from my final check for all I care. The administrative hassle is the petty part, and it’s so inconsequential that it genuinely made me chuckle. I don’t even blame them. Kinda respect the hustle tbh.
How do you continue with work as usual when it seems like the rest of your life is falling apart? I feel like I’m spiraling and just want to quit everything and drive somewhere far away to start over. I have a call with a partner soon and not sure if my usually good at faking enthusiasm self will be able to pull through on this one.
Happy (zoom) Passover for everyone celebrating!
When a law firm is looking for a 33/34 act attorney does it need an one working primarily with public companies? Or private companies as well? I’m a corporate and securities attorney, all my clients are private EGC and PE/ VC/ hedge funds, I usually ensure that they are exempted from 33/34 acts
Hey guys! Our teammate is going through a pretty tough time, I wasn’t sure if this would be appropriate to post, but seeing as though this is a sales group, and my man Braxton is a sales beast... I thought I could try posting and apologize later. If you can give please do, if you can share please, if you can pray please, please do. We’re so close to getting his expenses covered, and after all he’s done to show up to our team.. I’m trying to show up to him in my fullest capacity. Thank you!!
Need to define diverse talent metrics to create a scorecard. Challenge is that the available data is based on opting in/out of self identification, that data point can change dramatically YOY. Any recommendations on metrics and scorecard?
Are you folks happy with your decision to make a career in sales? I’m young working in tech sales, but also have my bachelors in psychology, and could see my self happily going for my masters maybe even PHD and being a counselor.
Litigators - any tips for preparing questions for depositions/examinations for discovery?

Does anyone have a dashboard or excel template for turnover/attrition where data can be easily “dumped” in for a beautiful display? TIA!
I’m the only associate in my dept (niche transactional practice group, 4th yr). It’s so hard for me to gauge my progress when my only points of comparison are equity partners. I’ve been feeling like such a failure recently. I feel like I should be getting fewer comments on the documents I draft. I feel like I should have fewer questions. I feel like I’m always making mistakes...but I have no way to tell if I’m behind or not. Any recommendations (other than asking my partners, obviously)?
First full day back in the office. I guess I’m not too upset but I did like work from home…
Based on some of the ominous posts/articles about firms going back to stealth layoffs, should I be weary about lateraling to BigLaw in a non-corporate practice area?
Lyft/Uber pickup line at LGA is over an hour tonight...recommendations on a work around? Is there another ride share app or pickup point to use?

Can anybody help me with comp expectation and career progression at Oliver Wyman, for a Senior Consultant based out of NY

what should I tell interviewers when they ask why I'm looking to switch from deloitte to their consulting firm (big 4) as I have only been here for 1 year?
How to transition from being a BA to EM? I’ve completed over 3 yrs, feel like I’m doing great work, and consistently receiving positive feedback (uptil 2nd year I was ahead of the class), yet I’m not getting a clear opportunity to get a managerial role in a project. Am I the only one who has felt I’m a great IC but struggles with the promotion?
Timeline: H1B transfer. Offer signed: 04/30 Details provided to Law Firm: 05/10 LCA filled: 06/03 LCA approved: 06/10 Petition filed: 06/14 Case Approved: 06/22 1) Case filed in premium processing 2) Transfer from one consulting firm to another (so all those who feel RFE is inevitable in this case; well hopefully this gives you hope). Good luck guys!
Found out I got my promotion today to managing consultant. I was happy for about 5 minutes and then started to panic as now I feel even more trapped than before. And the imposter syndrome is kicking in again. I am grateful to be employed and to be having an income during this but I'm also worrying that now it'll be even harder to leave consulting. Am I the only one who had ever felt this way?
Are the days of getting an MBA when you’re already in consulting (pre-MBA) over? What’s the value of it with direct promotion?
VC interview tomorrow, with maybe more rounds to follow. What key questions should I ask as I'm getting to know the firm?
Has anyone used Cultural Care Au pair through Accenture? Any thoughts, concerns, lessons learned?
Just had my 3rd interview last Thursday, with my potential AD partner. Haven’t heard anything back since. Should I assume they’ve moved on or is this pretty normal? They rushed me through all the interviews and the first CD gave my book more compliments than Ive had in an interview, so part of me thought it’d be quicker. Dying to find FT now as freelancing for the last year has been rough.
Was offered a Strategy Consultant role with Accenture (progression point C) for $150k. Asked what the sign-on bonus would be and was told $20k. Is this fair comp? Should I negotiate? I tried to negotiate salary but was told it is fixed. I haven't tried to negotiate sign-on yet, but also feel like it's fair and don't want to lose the offer. Wondering if this is my minority woman mentality. Background: Program director for a nonprofit for the past 5-7 years. Double masters in education (no mba).
Willing to give my year end bonus to whoever refers me to a job that I end up securing. Strategy or financial services, preferably, but obviously not terribly picky right now.
EY, what is the current maternity leave policy? Does the firm allow leave starting at 38 weeks? Is disability (6-8 weeks) separate from parental leave (16 weeks)? When is full eligibility - after 12 months of employment?
Would a guy lie about having sex with you? I drank too much last week and I can't recall going all the way with the guy. He said we didnt have sex a month ago (first time put together) but I clearly remember feeling different the next day and then he said we did a week ago when we went out again but I don't recall it at all. I obviously learned my lesson about not drinking too much to avoid these situations and questions -.-
