How long, on average, did it take you to study before you could pass the PHR/SPHR exam? Did you think it was worth it?
Hi there! I need some guidance. HR and global leadership rolled out some amazing new initiatives like not starting until 10 am on Mondays, no meeting Fridays and required 2 additional summer days a month. The problem is, my boss refuses to comply with the initiatives. He constantly scheduled meetings before 8 am on Mondays and after 7 pm on Fridays. He also doesn’t let me take time off. Should I go to HR? I’m really not one to complain but I’m tired and extremely burnt out. Thanks for your help!
I recently started at a larger software company as an AE. As I’m getting more into the process, I’m finding things odd. Like, cold calls and emails are metrics I’m judged on more than closed won business. I know that’s part of the job but it seems strange I’m judged on it so heavily. And, I seem to be the first real outside AE hire as everyone else seems to have been promoted up from SDR roles, including all of my direct management. I’m questioning if I made the right move. Stick it out or look?
This might be a dumb question so pls excuse my ignorance but do non-equity partners get bonuses? Is that a thing?
There’s this 2nd/rising 3rd year in my group who’s CONSTANTLY dropping the ball in my cases. Now he’s simply gone on vacation without telling me and I’ve been left scrambling to respond to a gov’t request. I’m about to strongly suggest to the partners that this person should be fired. Dumb move?
For those of you who spent the time and money to get the PHR or SHRM certifications, do you feel that it actually strengthened your professional capabilities as on HR professional, or did you just do it to fit into the “HR Professional” crowd?

Thoughts on Winston & Strawn (Chicago) vs Katten (Chicago) for lateral move as a mid level in m&a/cap markets? Culture? Quality of work? Watch outs?Winston & Strawn KattenMuchinRosenman LLP
Just got finished with two huge projects I had to turnover in a very tight timeframe. One of them barely had any revisions and the other got clobbered with redlines. Clearly the latter was the one I was working on at 2am. This is my very first assignment as a first year at big law and I wanted to make a good first impression. I feel like I squandered that opportunity.😣
My labor & employment law firm has misclassified about 15-20 of it's associates. We weren't being paid 2x minimum wage in order to be classified as exempt employees. This came to light and then they gave almost no direction or answers for about 3 weeks and just responded that they will give all the affected attorneys back pay only. We are entitled to meal/rest break claims, OT, wage statement violations, waiting time penalties, etc. What should we do?!
Hello, We are a growing company of 250 employees. We are considering Performance Management solutions. I would love get feedback on anyone's experience with any of the below solutions? Kazoo Engagedly Perform Yard CultureAmp Thanks!!
For those of you in house, do you actually read the articles written up by law firms? I’m constantly being asked to do this non billable work and I’m not in a place to reject and want to know the actual value of this exercise.
"Coffee's for closers" is a classic scene. Any other scenes that get you boys pumped up for the day?
First time founder - would you recommend square, stripe or something else for purchases between $150-$10k or what alternatively?
I am a first year associate in Biglaw. I have been put on an improvement plan to increase my billable hours. My supervisors have commented that have not been getting work because I need to improve my efficiency. I am willing to do what it takes to improve but wonder how to improve my hours when no one seems willing to give me a second chance.
What is it like to work as a real estate lawyer? I’ve done 4 years of plaintiffs personal injury, I’d like to try something new. Don’t want billable hours. Any thoughts? (Also other types of law suggestions are welcome)
Question for you sales and saas guys. I work for a fast growing startup and we are billing around 200 K a month. I am in charge of the sales team and our CFO mandates that we collect ACH payment information on every agreement. The problem with this is we have to reel in micro deposit amounts from customers and it feels like herding cats. I’ve worked for three great tech companies and I’ve never had ACH nor have I ever paid for services with ACH. Is this a totally dated process?
Monday morning and the only thing that goes through my mind is wow I hate my job. Between the strict requirement of releasing billing time daily, high billable goal and I guess a heavy workload (and everything that comes with living through a pandemic) it’s hard to start my day excited for work. And I hate it. Makes me question why I’m doing this for a living.
Good morning, I work for Solugenix placing top notch candidates at companies throughout the US. I just started at Solugenix so anyone who needs any assistance either finding a job or looking for candidates please let me know. Thanks and have a great day.
I’m the only associate in my dept (niche transactional practice group, 4th yr). It’s so hard for me to gauge my progress when my only points of comparison are equity partners. I’ve been feeling like such a failure recently. I feel like I should be getting fewer comments on the documents I draft. I feel like I should have fewer questions. I feel like I’m always making mistakes...but I have no way to tell if I’m behind or not. Any recommendations (other than asking my partners, obviously)?
CROSS POST: Anyone traveled to India and back recently? I’m traveling to Bombay for a week. Besides RT-PCR & air suvidha items, what else is required to get there and back? I’m a USC traveling on United & fully vaccinated. Any precautions to keep in mind? 🇮🇳🇺🇸 TIA.

How long is Big 4 recruiting process? I applied for Deloitte in Dec, 2020, done 1st interview and assessment last week and got informed that I would be invited to the final interview soon but now waiting for a week but still not heard back from recruiter. Can the hiring process last for a few months?
Do you think I can do a MR to SPG transfer and then get a 3:1 conversion to Marriott? Is the conversion worth it?
Almost a year into current job. Tons of long hours and menial work but starting to do some really cool stuff now. In-house agency reached out and the lower end of their budget is nearly 2x my salary..
Is a Big 4 role really that respected on a resume? I know everyone says it but I’m curious if that’s a recruiting technique or if B4 is actually impressive
Anyone leave big-4 and do part time consulting while working in industry? I know PwC has talent exchange anyone have experience juggling both industry and TE or something similar

Recruiter asked me where I was living and I told her the nearest big city to my house. She then asked if I lived in the city or the suburbs. Besides homes office do they ask this to see if you should get a higher/lower salary depending on your response?
How much involvement do we have in our career roundtables? Is it an open discussion or is it them telling you what they've already decided in terms of how they think you're diung/your compensation
BAH 🐠, I've got a friend interviewing for a LA position who wants to know if BAH does signing bonuses. She says comp hasn't come up yet, hence why she asked me to post here. The position is in the SIG in the DC area, if that makes a difference. Thanks!
I had my first baby and now work 75%. I'm trying to decide whether to go back full time. I'm happier now, but my husband's in school for 3 more years, and my paycheck doesn't cover our bills. Wwyd?
Does someone have a ranking of firms by average bonus size (%) for let's say M/SM level? Would be interested to see the differences between MBB/T2/Big4.
Main reason I still find myself HR consulting at Big 4 is the benefits and long paternity leave, but the crazy hours and stressful rigors of my day to day have me wishing for something more manageable where I'm able to Log off at a decent hour and be able to spend more time with friends/family and excel in something in particular. Advice? Going on three years exp.
