Any tips for dealing with a difficult atty in my group? There’s an atty who is sr to me, but who isn’t in my direct chain of command. Our areas overlap so we work together a lot. She keeps trying to throw me under the bus or tattle about me to my manager about minor issues. Things that’d make more sense to talk to me about directly instead. Fortunately, I have a wonderful, supportive manager. Not sure how to handle other than to be incredibly deferential. Help me get this target off my back!

I’m currently in campus recruiting&really would love to move to a new organization, however, Im pregnant&am expecting in January. I feel like no one will consider my candidacy seriously after hearing i am expecting. I know hiring managers can’t discriminate against hiring me because I’m pregnant, but I also dont want to be dishonest that if I start anything, I would be heading out on maternity shortly. How would you proceed? Suck it up being miserable at current company and try the switch after?

What are your tips/tricks/strategies and tools for long range planning/case management? I have a good handle on daily planning and even weekly goals. But beyond a week gets a bit unwieldy for me. I feel like I go from week to week putting out one fire after another. We do monthly case meetings, but that seems to always focus on the next action items. Do you use a calendar? A list? Some sort of to app? If I walked into your office now and asked for updates on your cases, what would you look at?

Any insight into Jackson Lewis? Especially the smaller offices? Do Associates generally get promoted to Partner? Do they match 401K contributions? Quality of life? PTO?

PSA to Partners. Just because it took you 30 minutes to edit a document (motions, discovery, etc.) doesn't mean that's the time it took the Associate to review materials and draft the document. Respect the time and stop asking for ridiculously tight deadlines.

Commission plan discussion:
I was promoted to Director of Sales and am tasked with revamping our sales commission plans

We are in a high margin industry, the majority of the team’s sales are transactional, so they are quick closes, and they have a base around 60k

Current plan is: 3, 5, 6, and 8% of revenue depending on different factors

I am thinking of streamlining to make everything 10%. (5% paid upfront when they land the sale, 5% paid once invoiced).

Thoughts? Things to consider?

California attorneys — I am having difficulty finding authority concerning the use of a rejected (partial) settlement offer to claim that a party failed to mitigate their damages. I.E. plaintiff could have mitigated if they accepted the (partial) settlement offer. Defendant offered to settle one claim (without affecting the others). Plaintiff rejected. The value of damages has increased over time and now defendant claims that plaintiff failed to mitigate because they did not accept the offer. TY

Recently got an offer from cts for about 22LPA. With 11.5 yrs exp, for a Data Engineering role with spark Python and so forth with designation of manager projects. Is this good or low? My current ctc is low.

Can anyone draw a successful pathway for a data engineer
I know SQL, python, AWS(beginner), spark(beginner)

Next steps
1. Learning spark on how to manage memory and take advantage of parallelism
2. Aws services like glue, EMR etc
3. Planning to learn Kafka
4. When done with AWS a bit in deep then azure or gcp

Please suggest any tweaks or a pathway

I lead a small-ish creative department at an e-commerce company. My background is in design, branding, and photography, but I’ve taught myself a fair amount of HTML and CSS. Our site’s platform is extremely rigid and constantly handcuffs the design team because we can’t meet executive expectations within these constraints. Because of this, I find myself having to write a LOT of custom code to make things look/behave properly. Is this normal? I’m happy to help, but this is way outside my JD.
