Can anyone share their experience working for an IT staffing company as a sales executive? Any particular pros and cons?
Let’s talk raise negotiations. If the firm generally offers a 4% raise to associate attorneys every year (and its customary to accept and not counter) what percentage is too high of a counter offer? What would be reasonable? (plaintiff side so no billable hour; 3 year associate; Houston; low 60k salary)
What does your work schedule look like (roughly) if you are aiming for 1900 billable hours?
Workday HELP! I need an amazing consultant or contact who can help us fix our workday woes. I’m not in charge of workday but I’m determined to fix it. We have massive issues with the complexity and ever changing security/permissions/workflows implemented by our system analysts. Every couple of months it changes and we all have to relearn simple tasks again. The analysts try to blame the users but I know it’s more than that.
I need to spend a good 3-4 hours doing some organizational shit today. I have a bunch of new cases and cases with new deadlines, and it’s going to take a bit to figure out how I’m going to manage everything. It’ll make my life easier and less scrambled in the long run... but there’s so much billable work I should be doing. How do you convince yourself to do all the nonbillable stuff that’s necessary for case management when you’re already pressed for time?
How long, on average, did it take you to study before you could pass the PHR/SPHR exam? Did you think it was worth it?
Any information on Akerman? Culture? Hours requirement? Pay? They have remote positions now, not sure if/how that affects pay.
Can anyone recommend a certificate or course that is actually useful for developing professionals and/or reviewing performance? I don’t want/need something that is just a credential, I’m actually looking to get some formal grounding in these two topics so I can overhaul processes at my consulting firm. Thanks for your advice!!!
First time interviewing multiple potential hires at a job fair tomorrow. Any tips or suggested questions?
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
Curious how folks are governing/auditing their HRIS data. Wondering if this always done it manually.

First time founder - would you recommend square, stripe or something else for purchases between $150-$10k or what alternatively?
Monday morning and the only thing that goes through my mind is wow I hate my job. Between the strict requirement of releasing billing time daily, high billable goal and I guess a heavy workload (and everything that comes with living through a pandemic) it’s hard to start my day excited for work. And I hate it. Makes me question why I’m doing this for a living.
Would my bosses let me move to work in a different state? I work as an internal consultant within KPMG, working for the firm within the internal HR team. I have been with KPMG for 5 months but I am wanting to move back home to be with my family - on the other side of the country. There’s only a 2 hour Timezone difference and I’d make sure to work on current time. My line manager I report to lives in another state to me anyway - and it seems to work well for her. Am I pushing my luck to ask?
About to start interviewing for AWS and the recruiter sent me a 120 minute assessment to take before the interview process starts. Looks like most of the questions require Audio response. Has anybody taken this? Looking for advice on what the questions are like and the answers they’re looking for. Thanks.
For those of you in house, do you actually read the articles written up by law firms? I’m constantly being asked to do this non billable work and I’m not in a place to reject and want to know the actual value of this exercise.
We are looking to re-do our company dress code to match a more gender-neutral, inclusive environment. I have some references I found online but it would be amazing if you would drop your formal HR policy dress code image below!
Convo in team room-- Associate 1: Would you take a job where you doubled your current salary, but all you did was fire people? Associate 2: It's called Private Equity, bro

At a bar in NYC with friends from all the big 4 firms. These assholes are comparing hours/week as if it's a competition
If I am trying to exit no sooner than April, what is the earliest I should start applying elsewhere?
Anyone doing management masters at Harvard Extension School? Can it take you places? What are the career opportunities?
Applied for a strategy role and recruiting team asked me to interview for a different process improvement/innovation role. Does this mean I’m ruled out for the initial role? Can I ask about it during the call? New role is same YOE requirement but title demotion
Been in this job 8 months and have primarily experienced boredom and zero necessity for intellectual engagement. What am I doing wrong? How do I get a challenging project? I'm getting good reviews.
What's the deal with all these layoffs in big 4? Is this common? (Coming from a non big 4 guy, considering moving to big 4, but not all that excited after seeing the layoffs)
My mom just got laid off today...just got promoted on Friday too...why does this happen😣 all I want to do is fly home and hug my mom
Applying for 2 roles at Deloitte (Client Delivery Consultant - ConvergeHealth) in NYC. I have friends who at D, but is there anyone in that group or an MD that would have more leverage in a referral?
Good luck to all ACCA takers this week. P5 here.
A recruiter from Accenture recently reached out to me about opportunities within their Workday practice. I’m an AC due for a promotion to Consultant in September. Based on some Glassdoor research, it looks like the avg. base for the consultant level @ Accenture is around 100k whereas I’m expecting to be at about 85k base at the same level at my current company. I LOVE my job and WLB and feel like I get great exposure to senior leadership. If offered a position, would it be worth the move?
Hey guys. I’m the event planner for CLSA at my law school and was wondering if anybody is willing to be on a panel regarding ethics during the coronavirus regarding the way confidential information is sent and received, how you guys use zoom for depositions or any ethical challenges you’ve come across during this time. Thank you!
Absolutely terrified that there will be massive layoffs for consultants since most of our services aren’t necessary and the economy is failing. Thoughts on the prospects of consulting?
Please tell me if I’m wrong. I started advising with no experience at the end of 2019 with a 6 month old practice within a huge partnership. No salary but was told there could be a book of clients for me. In the first three months I was really active though of course I was very scrappy as I was just learning the ropes. Obviously COVID hit and we’ve pretty much been in lockdown ever since (not US based). By Q3 the shock wore off and we all got back to it (my boss included). I decided to focus on
