Any information on Akerman? Culture? Hours requirement? Pay? They have remote positions now, not sure if/how that affects pay.
Partners/Seniors: If an associate does not turn up the research you thought should be out there, do they lose points with you? Often I am asked to research XYZ and about half the time, the answer is “no law on this/unclear/here is something that comes close.” Sometimes the assigning atty says “there has to be something” when they assign the work. Curious to hear what goes on in your mind after we give you something you weren’t expecting.

Advice on taking and passing the SPHR exam?
Looking for ideas on how other companies are celebrating and recognizing diversity holidays like LGBT pride month Juneteenth black history month women’s history month etc.Not just days off
Currently, I have an employee who is struggling. Missing deadlines, making false promises to clients etc. Recently, I sat in one of his development sessions with his manager, and I was shocked at how disengaged he was and how junior he actually vs what we pay him. After some further investigation, we are afraid he lied on his resume and how his experience. How do you go about a situation such as this? This is a first for me.
What training or guidance are you giving managers at your firms about managing hybrid teams? There is a lot out there on remote teams, but a lot of us are going back three days a week which means people at home and people in the room. Any tips to pass on?
What does your work schedule look like (roughly) if you are aiming for 1900 billable hours?
Workday HELP! I need an amazing consultant or contact who can help us fix our workday woes. I’m not in charge of workday but I’m determined to fix it. We have massive issues with the complexity and ever changing security/permissions/workflows implemented by our system analysts. Every couple of months it changes and we all have to relearn simple tasks again. The analysts try to blame the users but I know it’s more than that.
I need to spend a good 3-4 hours doing some organizational shit today. I have a bunch of new cases and cases with new deadlines, and it’s going to take a bit to figure out how I’m going to manage everything. It’ll make my life easier and less scrambled in the long run... but there’s so much billable work I should be doing. How do you convince yourself to do all the nonbillable stuff that’s necessary for case management when you’re already pressed for time?
How long, on average, did it take you to study before you could pass the PHR/SPHR exam? Did you think it was worth it?
I had my mid-year review earlier this month (it was delayed because my group is slammed). I started in September 2019, after a state supreme court clerkship. I received great reviews, and was hoping for a raise. The reviewing partners told me that firm evaluates for raises in July, and it is firm policy not to give raises to associates that have been with the firm for less than a year. The practical effect of this is that I will not receive a raise until July 2021, 20 months after starting.
Can anyone recommend a certificate or course that is actually useful for developing professionals and/or reviewing performance? I don’t want/need something that is just a credential, I’m actually looking to get some formal grounding in these two topics so I can overhaul processes at my consulting firm. Thanks for your advice!!!
First time interviewing multiple potential hires at a job fair tomorrow. Any tips or suggested questions?
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
Let's talk about Christmas bonuses: Should you be penalized for leaving your firm in your bonus if you've generated significant amounts for the firm? Is that common practice? Disgruntled associate. 😂
I know my client needs an Accounting Manager. I know this because they’re startup med device company that has their books in complete shambles. The current accounting team isn’t very strong. How do I let the client know that I would be interested in joining them? They’re not actively recruiting for any position but I know they’d benefit from it. Serious responses only :)
About to start interviewing for AWS and the recruiter sent me a 120 minute assessment to take before the interview process starts. Looks like most of the questions require Audio response. Has anybody taken this? Looking for advice on what the questions are like and the answers they’re looking for. Thanks.
Who remembers the old Craigslist missed connections?! Female SEA > DCA, you were sitting in First Class and had a boot on. That is my nightmare - get injured playing soccer and have to hobble....
My future employer uses Fidelity for 401k and my current employer uses vangaurd. What are my options to consolidate 401k account. I prefer Vangaurd and wish I could stick to it. I also have Roth IRA account and brokerage account with Vangaurd too. What will happen to my Roth IRA as my adjusted gross income will be more than the limit set for Roth IRA. Can I still keep the account for 2021 or I need to close it ?

Hot take. Hulu’s new special on Harry & Meghan’s new baby should change its title from “The American Royal Baby” to “ The American Baby”. There’s nothing royal about them… at least not anymore
Is Uber’s Strategy & Operations Manager role worth it? Would be a 25k base reduction (similar bonus). Not passionate about Uber and pretty satisfied with consulting (7 out of 10) at the moment.
Any word on whether clerkship hiring in the NY metro area will pick up in the new year? Any insight appreciated!
How can i prep for case interviews at BCG? Any good books, podcasts, consultants etc. you guys recommend? TIA 😊 Boston Consulting Group
Hey guys, I have an offer for big 4 external audit and forensics. I was wondering which should I choose? What would you guys choose? Which provides more interesting opportunities?
If you were looking to exit Big 4 Consulting, what positions would you be targeting? I have done a little of everything with no specialization (great performance reviews across the board). But now a little unsure of what my skills really are from an employer POV.
Just got one of these special emails with a meeting invite for a 'career conversation' tomorrow. Any advice on how the conversation will go, severance package, visa issues etc. Appreciate any help
Any other valuable certifications to add to a CPA if exit plan is to head into finance/restructuring?
I have a couple interviews coming up for an Account Executive position. What are some questions I should expect to be asked? I'm mostly anxious about the situational/behavioral type questions
