Does anyone have insight on working in the Investment Management practice in the NY office of Schulte?
Anyone practicing shareholder activism at Schulte or Olshan (or defense at any other firms)? I'm interested in this area and am looking to make a transition.
Thinking of coming to San Francisco / Silicon Valley as a project finance lawyer -- I work in Biglaw in Australia so would likely be doing the same after I move to the US.
Any recommendations for firms I should tell my recruiter? Expecting long hours (because it is in Australia) but to the extent I can, I'd like to prioritize the least sweatshop-type of the big firms. 3-4 year associate.
If you're a young lawyer, make time to get out from behind your desk and meet others for coffee, lunch or at a reception. I know, it's tough to make the time, but please, make the time.
What are sales teams/the sales environment like at your company? Is it cut throat or collaborative/laid back?
My boss is not a true leader…
How do you handle your own boss who thinks you went behind their back to your own HR director? They tell you they don’t like it but you wanted another HR opinion on a topic and now they are upset about the entire situation.
Does anyone here practice cannabis law? How candid are you when filing federal documents (i.e. EIN for the entity)? Is there an issue with a company disclosing that it’s a cannabis business or should the activities of the business be described in broader terms?
No word from my recruiter in a week after discussing places to apply to - is this a reasonable amount of time to assume nothing came of it and to find another recruiter?
Happy Tuesday! I’m looking to make more connections in HR and was wondering if anyone would like to connect on LinkedIn? I would love to speak to some HR managers or HRBPs that wouldn’t mind sharing your journey/career path with me. My email is email@example.com and name is Helen Alston on LinkedIn 😊

I was having a conversation with a good friend I went to law school with. We both have been in private practice for 30+ years. We were discussing how so much energy was putting into getting into a good law school, setting up our own practices, building our law firms etc. but little to none in how to wind up our own careers and retire.I was wondering if anybody on this forum has actually retired and how life looks like after the rigorous practice of law. Do you feel a loss of purpose? Identity?Does doing volunteer work fill that void?
Hello! How are people working through promotions? Covid or non-Covid timelines are fine. Particularly within the Early in Career Track (associate to Sr. Associate). How long does it take to get to the next level and what comp range? Thanks in advance!!!
Every time I’m on a busy deal or two at a time I dream about the day I can go in-house :(
A month ago I received my annual review/ merit increase, which was a little higher than the 3% for market adjustment. I’m still underpaid and not happy. I accepted the review at the time because I needed time to digest it. I still haven’t had a 1:1 with her yet but plan to ask when we do. Is it too late to ask? Any tips for asking for a raise? She’s also giving me more responsibility, more work, having me take more ownership over things her and someone else used to. Im so nervous about asking
GRAD SCHOOL ADVICE: Hi there, I am a HR professional and love my career. There are definitely some HARD days that make me question why I'm still in HR but I am passionate about people and helping them. That said, I have been thinking about going back to school for quite some time. I was interested in pursuing a MBA but now wanting to specialize in psychology. I think this is a better route for me. I want to understand people. Any HR/psychology grad students or alums? Online school suggestions?
Any insight on what it's like to work at Plaid?
I’ve been in TA for 10 years and have been wanting to be an HRBP for 2 years now. My prior company had no interest in helping me develop and started with a new company 4 months ago. I was transparent from the start that I wanted to leave TA and was told I could do that within my first year. I’m receiving signs that I’ll, once again, be pigeonholed in TA. I’ve done talent management, DEI, engagement, but my lack of direct BP experience and TA titles keep me pigeonholed. What can I do?
How is everyone coping with the new variant and putting mask back on? Also, who’s planning to go home and ha e a good drink after their day of work? I know I am.
Need some help regarding sales quotas. Can management increase your quota solely because you’re doing well and exceeding it? I’ve been here less than a year, and have since established my capabilities with sales, and my numbers now put me in at number 3 highest selling sales rep of the entire company. My quota has now been changed 3 times since being here, with the latest increase being a jump of 2x what my previous quota was, just because I had a good month. Is this normal/fair?
I’m pretty confident in my concepting skills as a junior, but I feel like I really lack in my design skills and super afraid of falling behind when I receive more design centered projects. I recently interviewed at an agency and designing was definitely a part of the gig. Anybody have any advice?
Hello my first time round I’m in Canada but i work for a company in the US, we mainly work with integrations of HR systems, so my boss hired me back in July with no experience as a Project Manager, was still upgrade from my previous role but because I’m new in this position means I’m getting paid below average. When my annual review I am hoping(note: this makes me really uncomfortable) is to have a discussion about a raise and pushing my salary towards the norm what would be your approach
Has anyone started a new job and felt they made the wrong decision? I took a job when public was kind of at its worst, and now I’m having second thoughts.
Long story short my mom has had me as an authorized user on her credit card since I started college (I recently graduated). I got my own job and rarely used it but she has extremely high credit utilization and I think it’s heavily impacting my credit. I got my credit score back from an apartment in NY I applied to. I don’t know if I will be approved but I have the option to dispute my credit history. Can I say the account is “not mine” ?

Putnam fish: I have 2 year 3 mon experience specific in life science consulting (wide project type experience), but offered a position as associate II. Is it expected? Surprised as I assumed it is logical to be assessed as senior associate. Thanks!
