Does anyone know anything about Steptoe and Johnson and can share? Esp helpful if it’s related to their M&A/corporate group in NYC. (Culture, hours, etc.)
Should I expect a promotion to essentially be in writing? This entire "promotion" seems to be theoretic over the last 6 months. I was about to quit yesterday and now the position I didn't think I was going to get is starting to come around;timing couldn't be crazier. Should I give them an ultimatum? I just received an insane offer but I want to stay.
Hi Sales Community - I’m moving from a Mid-Market sales position into Enterprise sales and would love to use this ramping period to enhance my skills. After being in sales for 4+ years I feel decently confident in my sales acumen but I never received any formal training or held an SDR role so I’ve always felt a bit underprepared. I was wondering if anyone has a good sales book recommendation that might be beneficial for me to check out as I head into a more senior role? Thanks!
Anyone in this bowl did the CAMS exam? If so, is this an exam that can be passed without AML experience?
Advice on taking and passing the SPHR exam?

"Coffee's for closers" is a classic scene. Any other scenes that get you boys pumped up for the day?
I’m not happy where I’m at, my abilities aren’t being maximized as I’m spread thin, and I know I’m being undervalued. Recently graduated and in property management w/ 3-4 years sales experience. Currently on the hunt for Sales/Account Management roles leaning more towards consumer goods, then tech. Any advice?
Just got finished with two huge projects I had to turnover in a very tight timeframe. One of them barely had any revisions and the other got clobbered with redlines. Clearly the latter was the one I was working on at 2am. This is my very first assignment as a first year at big law and I wanted to make a good first impression. I feel like I squandered that opportunity.😣
I’m trying to help people make the most out of every and any interview they are able to schedule right now. Which aspect of the interview process are you seeing fall apart most?
I recently started at a larger software company as an AE. As I’m getting more into the process, I’m finding things odd. Like, cold calls and emails are metrics I’m judged on more than closed won business. I know that’s part of the job but it seems strange I’m judged on it so heavily. And, I seem to be the first real outside AE hire as everyone else seems to have been promoted up from SDR roles, including all of my direct management. I’m questioning if I made the right move. Stick it out or look?
We had a blizzard that shut the city down (close to 50 cm of snow) and I’ve been physically unable to leave my apartment, and I’m going stir crazy. I’m in Canada and covid cases have been low, so we’ve been back in the office a bit, but now they’re up and I’m worried about what the winter will bring. At least before I could sit outside or go for a walk, but not being able to leave is not going well - I worked from my bed today which I know is bad but couldn’t even get to my desk. Any advice?
How long, on average, did it take you to study before you could pass the PHR/SPHR exam? Did you think it was worth it?
Anyone in Chicago looking to work at a plaintiffs personal injury firm? The firm I work for is hiring.
Opportunity to pivot from Insurance Defense PI to Plaintiffs-side PI for almost 30k salary bump. If you generally like the people you currently work with would you do it? Obviously no billable hours doing Plaintiffs PI but I cant imagine their work day being any less stressful or the performance demand any less than on the defense side, especially if they are offering more money. Money is def a consideration for the move.
Any unemployment insurance benefit attorneys out there? I’d like to add this niche to my solo employment law practice but the billable fees are really low. How are attorneys profitable in this area? How do you bill your time? Is defense more profitable than claimant? Thanks.
So the partner threatened to fire me because I don’t usually submit my timesheet daily (and I mean DAILY, he checks everyone’s timesheet at 9AM). I’m thinking about quitting because I think threatening termination for this type of pettiness is BS, and even the strictest firms I’ve worked at had a 72-hour policy. Is this common?
First year attorney- working at a boutique law firm for about 10 months. Just had a PIP sent to me. What do I do?
Hi everyone. Have 4 years of work exp with PwC advisory with a mix of data and PMO kind of roles. I’m not keen on pursuing any roles that are very tech or data heavy. Generally good at PMO, client relations and basic analysis and trying to move to better WLB and pay. Questions - 1. Any suggestions on how i should go about figuring this out before i get stuck into this for a very long time? 2. Currently at 90k in NY market (no raises this year) Is this very low?
STL to LGA every Thursday. Not sure which I love more. The flight delays or the sloth pace people walk at in the Midwest.....

Any MBB folks care to share about their firm’s work for US federal/DoD? Obviously not anything sensitive - but just overall kind of work. Curious about making a change.
After feeling down bc canceled trips next month, had to remind myself: We are all super fortunate to work in prof. services where we can wfh with relatively high job safety, and our ‘problems' are ...
Capital One my application status changed to “in progress - interview” a few days ago, but I haven’t been contacted yet. Is there usually a lag between when the status changes and when someone would reach out? Any insights?
Wish we didn’t have green card backlog issues. Really demotivated. Wonder what we’re slogging towards. Getting out of bed itself every morning is a battle.
What would we see if we walked into your classroom? I love learning about what others do.
How does PTO work? Just moved to a pto firm from an "unlimited" firm. If I don't bill any hours for a day, does that mean I won't get paid for that day???
I’m interviewing for a strategy role with Former MBB. I’m not from a pure strategy background and come with Tech experience. Do I even have a chance?
How do y’all cope with working in another time zone? Remote and supporting a project 3 hours behind me. Got calls late through the evening and find it hard to have a life outside of work.
Is University of Cumberlands (Kentucky) a good place to do your day 1 cpt. I mean is it ok for your H1B application.
Do you all typically write cover letters for cold applications to online portals? Hiring managers, do you actually read cover letters?
Do you think that with the new administration it will be easier to get visa sponsorship from big consulting firms? I am currently employed in the US on a F-1 OPT extension, but I will need H1B sponsorship in 2 years. I know that basically no consulting firm sponsors visas (for entry-level / 1 yoe). Has anyone managed to get sponsorship after OPT / heard anything on higher H1B quotas for consulting?
