Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Ah makes sense now. Does the 2100 two bedroom rent price include the fees as well? May want to adjust your contributions if it becomes too tight until you find a roommate

You’re fine

I’m such a homer for the 30% of take home that the $2100 makes me uneasy, but I do see the $1050 which gives me some hope
Very reasonable

Appreciate it

You’re good. And hey Joe just knocked $10K off your student loans.

Private loan through former employer. I knew what I signed up for and happy to pay the blood money. It’s 0% fixed over 5 years so all good

If you can you want to find the roommate before signing the lease so they are named on the lease. Could get messy otherwise.

Jumping in to say my landlord had my roommate apply and added to the lease. Do not let anyone live with you not on the lease, where I live it’s a contract breach.
Also, fyi I couldn’t find a suitable replacement for my roommate. I looked for 3 months. Partly it was me— it’s a nice apartment and people who wanted a roommate didn’t want to pay as much as the rent was (a lot of 20 somethings), but also it’s hard to find good roommates who won’t cause drama and interrupt your life. If you have a professional job and value your sanity, I actually would go for the one bedroom as the safest bet. Seriously. I’m going to downsize as soon as my current lease is up.
You could also consider looking for someone already established in an apartment that is seeking a roommate. That way you don’t need to be concerned about fronting last and security and having uncertainty about filling the space.
That’s how I did things back in my roommate days.
I googled roommates Charlotte and it looks like there’s a bunch of websites and a Facebook group that serve the purpose. It may also be worth checking out young professionals groups.
I'm going to be moving to Charlotte in Jan/Feb as well, I would consider a roommate if we had an office/den as I wfh. Lmk if interested.
28/M and financially stable
