2 offers (one from a bank and one from Capital One). The C1 offer is an SBA role, the bank is offering an AVP/VP level role. Bank is paying $115k in Charlotte, C1 is offering $130k in NYC. I’d be dumb to take the C1 offer at this point, but I do like the C1 job better in terms of the management and opportunity. Does anyone know if C1 would go above the SBA salary band if I have another offer? (Obviously I will ask, but just asking here to set expectations)

Why do you feel you would be dumb to take the C1 offer? Yes, the COL is higher in NY but if it means you won’t need a car, you might be surprised. To your point the opportunities should be greater. Personally I’ve lived just outside of Manhattan affordably. Bought a condo with a parking space I rent out, defraying the cost of property taxes. HOA’s are modest (it’s a non doorman building) and I will get the entire value of the home back (plus appreciation) when I sell. Prior to owning I lived in a rent controlled brownstone with 4 to 6 roommates for next to nothing.

I have to agree here. SBA is a MASSIVE government program for small business owners.

It’s not going anywhere.

Whereas, we do see buy outs all the time. Am I worried Citi would - not really but never say never.

Way more job security and it’s the US govt.

Def worth your consideration.

Best of luck but sounds like you have two fantastic opportunities.

130k in NYC is hard to live on without a far commute or roommates

115k in charlotte is more than 130k in nyc fwiw

I agree with VP1 right above this. I would take the offer in Charlotee. The cost of living in NY right now makes the other offer look way better.

Getting out of education? I am recently credentialed and not yet teaching. I was accepted into a 4month i.t. program that is guaranteeing me 2x the starting teacher salary in four months. Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I’m currently in FP&A and looking to work at a Big 4, or another company that offers the ability to move abroad. My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.
