I have 30k of my company stock (ACN) It’s down a crazy amount. I don’t need the money but I should sell, right? The losses will be huge so won’t owe taxes, can write off losses over the next 5 years.

But high sell low baby

If you had $30k cash right now, would you go out and buy ACN? If yes, hold. If no, sell.

Yes sell. Buy an index fund.

Do you have other stocks with gains that you can sell to use the losses? You can only use $3k of losses per year against your ordinary income, so if you have more than $15k of losses, it will take longer to write off. If you have gains in other stocks, you can sell those and use the losses to offset the gains.

Yea ofc will research further but that’s a good potential avenue. Thanks.

If you think you can get a better return reinvesting elsewhere, you should consider doing so. If you have other gains elsewhere, maybe trim those and take the tax benefit?

I'm planning to sell and use the losses to offset gains in taxable.

Same! The loss is so big that I’ll be able to write off all my gains on some of the single stocks I’ve been holding this year 😭

I agree with everyone who said sell. I would definitely sell and see if you can put that money elsewhere. Best of luck to you.

Thanks all!!!

Hello Guys,

I joined
Cognizant recently, the project interview calls which I am getting is not from my base location.
I have the location constraint, should I wait for the right opportunity or raise this concern to ADP team so they can look in to it?

As per ADP policy, one should not have any constraints and take the project as FCFS basis.
