$94K seems a bit low to me to feel "financially independent". I have kids and student loans and am in lower cost city, and don't feel that would even nearly cover it.

to me, it's getting closer and closer to six figures. Like I genuinely think the sweet spot is like $100k-120k honestly, that's when you're the most comfortable and not stressing over every little purchase
This is propaganda put out there so companies don't feel like they have to pay more. I don't have children and after taxes, $94k would not be enough for me to be financially "independent. Paying credit car bills, student loan debt, and saving for retirement would all take away from that as well.
I sure miss the days when $100k was like a million dollars. You could save money, drive a luxury vehicle, and stay in a really nice home for $100k annually.
Over $100k for sure. I don't stress over the small things, but I'm definitely not "financially independent" either.
