Even if the bench isnt big...are you learning the skills that you will need in the future.
I spent some time at pwc and realized that pwcs advisory practice doesnt really teach problem solving skills. They teach you how to follow an audit checklist and present it in an incredibly polished way.
With all the talk layoffs over the last 24 months at pwc...i wold look for a firm that does a better job of giving their consultants marketable skills.
Lol s& you're making yourself look like a fool. Have nothing against y'all, but we are definitely struggling. Integration hasn't been going well, and tons of my friends are on the bench (deals strategy). Saw people jump to Deloitte s&o
lol they're cutting 3s now? Great I was a 3 last year (was told it was because I didn't have a full year with the firm yet / exp hire).
RUMOR MILL IN FULL SWING
At S&, I'm pretty sure 3's are/we're automatically cut. No idea what our allocation for cuts is, but you'd be cutting 2's here.
The irony is that we've had tremendous growth on the top line. Assets may not be as utilized as they'd like, but if there's an uptick in the business cycle they'll be left high and dry as their staff becomes overutilized. Maybe they looked at this thoroughly, but I see little problem with ~65% average utilization - we all learned in school that delays become prevalent at 80%+.
What about advanced promotions this upcoming summer? Campus hire with 2 years, started in Jan 2015 in FS looking to make senior by July 2017
P1, good luck. S&1, 3 isn't the bottom 15-20%.. they don't give 80% to 1s and 2s.. if anything that is the other way (~20% are 1 and 2s) rest are 3 and above.
That's not how it was communicated to me.
I thought it was ~5-10% 1s, 75% 2, 15-20% 3s... Are there 4s? I could totally be wrong, but that's clearly an issue that we don't know this haha
It's 1-5, a 3 is basically meets expectations with 1 being the highest.
Yeah I'm pretty sure S& has a different distribution. Bottom line: I really hope I'm not a bottom 10%er, however they define that.
Same p6. Ive only been on one project that was 8 weeks long and nothing.
Also, for reference, there are groups within PwC advisory that are significantly more profitable. For example S& or the Deals business. The groups mentioned above for layoffs tend to have much, much lower margins.
Agreed with pwc14, however, our firm is not flexible enough to allow people to move groups quickly.
Deals may be more profitable but doesn't mean they have more work
Deals might be more profitable per engagement but they certainly have much worse utilization issues
Any word on the timeline?
Part of it is the constant up or out pruning that happens, too. And P9, margins, man. If you had a product line that made $10B in sales but $10M in operating profits and another than made $1B in sales but $5M in operating profits, which would you prune more of? Stylized example, but you get the picture.
A1 agreed but still, when that 10B goes stale while the 1B maintains or grows wouldn't you start to begin trimming? Trends have seem to be that not as many S& staff are needed to attend to the current pipeline of work
*wide
P14 really? I'm in deals and I know our figures... We expect to have lower utilization and profitability as a result as we grow. Are you talking about transaction services as a whole or deals strategy? Because you're mistaken. Pwc is making an investment and knows it
I'm just going to finish up by saying what all of us at s& would like to say. I avidly dislike Pwc. I tried for so long to adopt the mindset that "we are one" and I've met some awesome PwC folks. However, on average, the caliber of people is absurdly low...
