One of my favorite podcasts did an episode on Adderall. Most of the info won’t be new, but there were some interesting snippets in there. I also thought it was a useful educational resource to share with your family and friends.

One thing is that carrying and birthing a human often comes with very real, sometimes permanent health changes/problems.
Pregnancy is not something you simply “bounce back” from. It completely alters you. Forever.
And many develop immune-related issues, heart issues, hormonal issues… the list is nearly endless.
On top of that, we are often the default parents (whether our partners are “supportive” or not) and that takes a toll.
We need more than just platitudes. We need structural help. We need work adjustments. We need compassion. Self-compassion, too. We need respect, to be quite honest.
We need more than just platitudes 👏
Never talked about: How the heck people (mostly moms) account for unexpected calls from the school to pick up sick kids. I lived in fear of unexpected “your kid has a slight fever and you’re mandated to pick them up ideally within 15 minutes” calls.
And lice outbreaks and the mandatory “we saw your child scratching their head and therefore you have to pick them up immediately and they can’t come back until they have a signed letter from a lice specialist stating that their hair has been cleaned,” necessitating 24 hours of me moving heaven and earth to find, schedule and pay someone to do that.
Navigating so many unpredictable preschool and school absences is my least favorite part of parenting.
Agree but then I feel grateful I’m salaried and not at risk of losing my job or not getting a paycheck like hourly moms are.
