Well buddy you are only 26 so unless you plan on dying at 27, I would say you shouldn't prepare for a life alone.
just turned 24, with my only healthy/lengthy relationship being when i was 15.. kinda gave up on finding someone last year, but this year i saw a tinder girl for a month (it didn’t end up working out) and have grown to really like someone i volunteer with and am gonna take a risk and ask her out.
the point here is, don’t give up hope! open yourself to new opportunities (without the expectation that you’ll meet someone to date). making an effort is the key, as your potential SO won’t just show up at your door. for the first time in forever, i am feeling hopeful about finding someone..
Me neither OP. But I also avoid intimacy, and hate the idea of “being someone’s girlfriend.”
I do worry that one day, years from now, I’ll change my mind. All my hotness will have worn off, and I’ll get stuck with some mediocre dude
Sounds like a good question for the ol’ therapist
This is your bachelor/bachelorette period, bask in it.
Once you sign up for a commitment with someone you have to adjust majorly to make sure you’re including them in your life and whatever other emotional/logistical changes that come with a relationship.
Enjoy your career and any of the alcohol fueled perks that come with it! Stay up late, travel, enjoy QT with friends and just do you! The relationship will rear its head when it’s time!

You should start dating and see how you feel about it. With all of the apps out there, it’s pretty easy to catch a date. You might find you enjoy dating and the companionship. Or, you might not, which is fine, too. You don’t have to be with someone to be happy. But it sounds like it’s something you might long for, so give it a go.
Most importantly, you should be happy with yourself vs. relying on someone else. Therapy might be a good place to talk through your thoughts, feelings, what-ifs, fears, etc.
Wishing you the best of luck! 💙
Don’t lose hope! And also being single is
Not really as bad as you make it look like ..
All lasting relationships I’ve ever had started from friendships. So make sure you’re making friends first, and I mean outside of your job. Think about some hobbies you do and google groups for that hobby. Join a social intramural sports league. A book or gardening club.
I haven’t had any type of romantic/intimate relationship in 10 years...and I’ve been married for 16 years.
Microwaving for one. Buy it. Study it. Own it.
Get a robot
I feel you. I’m turning 31 this year and haven’t been intimate since college so...pretty much also settling in for life alone. Of course I’m lonely but I’m still on the fence if actually being in a relationship would be good. I’ll live in my fantasy crush land I guess until I figure it out? But yah, also worried I’ll waste my youth and good looks but who am I kidding nobody is looking my way regardless lol
Sounds like it’s hard to find the one for many. Chicago peeps you’re not alone !
