Accidentally swallowed a small fish bone as part of a cut of my salmon tonight. It feels stuck in my throat. Any tips of dislodging it or will it go away on its own? Even willing to try some old wives remedies. Please advise. Thanks!

The real trick is to eat white rice!!!

Why are people laugh-reacting I was serious

Bread has worked for me.

Rice or soft bread. Something kind of sticky. If it starts swelling, go to the hospital—they’ll have to scope you & pull it out (been there). But try the above first & try to stay calm.

like

I had this happen with a small chicken bone one time and was convinced it was in my throat. Went to the doctor. The bone (or something) has scratched my throat and that’s what I was feeling, not the actual bone itself.

likesmart

On the contrary, I’ve had 2 bones get caught & had to go to the hospital—once a fish (trout) and the other quail.

This reminds me of the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where Larry David got a pubic hair stuck in his throat. I think it’s actually two episodes. You should watch that for ideas.

likefunny

What the heck was he doing, flossing?

Bread should help, the bone is supposed to get caught in it... good luck !

Tangential fun fact: the tradition of serving lemons with fish came from the belief that the acid would dissolve any bones you swallowed

I ate a banana once and it helped

Op - how are u now

Thanks guys. I’m alive... ate a ton of rice the last few days and I don’t feel any foreign objects in my esophagus anymore. I wish there was an easy gag-free way to self inspect the throat to be fully sure though.

Maybe some hot tea? I swallowed a cake decoration wire when I was a kid and came out ok! Your digestive system is surprisingly durable

like

Rice works. Eat some cooked rice and it will work. Tried and tested with fish bone and chicken bone

like

Eat a banana. That will do the trick.

like

Not to frighten you, but my mom ended up tearing her throat in a fish bone. Might be worth going to a doctor 🙇🏻‍♀️

like

BANANA I had one stuck in my throat really badly and the banana is the only thing that got it down

like

Yeah no chewing. Just swallow it whole.

funny

This happened to me as a kid. It’ll feel irritated or that something is there even when not. Eating bananas helped clear it and helped smooth it.

like

Run a comb along your throat seven times (as if you're trying to brush it down from the outside).

funny

OP: how did things turn out? Are you ok?

like

Hey yes I’m alive! Glad I didn’t need to go to any covid-infested emergency room lol.

You guys made some hilarious suggestions. I guess the rice trick worked. Ate a lot of Chinese food the last few days and the large gobs of sticky white rich prob pushed it down. Thanks y’all!

I just started meds yesterday and the change in my focus and attention to detail is mind blowing. My only concern is, just yesterday I had a tough feedback session with my manager around how I’m taking too long to complete my work, giving them anxiety around close deadlines. I’m new in the job (3 months in). Should I explain anything about my adhd to my manager or just wait for them to notice the change in me?

Hello Fishes,

Any idea when we get relieving letter/service certificate from TCS?

My LWD was 16th September and I received FNF 10 days before. Also got initial release letter on my LWD.

I see so many issues in this organisation.
When I joined TCS after 5 days of joining they used to mail me every week for 5 continuous weeks and asked me every time for previous organisation relieving letter.
But they themselves don’t share it and delay a lot.

Anyone please advise.
