Hello Everyone! Does anyone have a connection at Netflix ! I am an author/marketing associate and truly my dream job is to work on the team that creates/produces Drive to Survive. I am a huge F1 fan! However, I am willing to start where I can and work my way there! I was laid off due to Covid and just trying to get back into the field and industry I love.
Thoughts on all of the layoffs happening?

Sorry to hear, OP, I've been there. The trick: it's all about discipline and routine.
First step: get dressed and leave your apartment!! Take it as an opportunity to try a new coffee shop/cafe every day. (If you don't want to spend money, work at a library, they're nice, quiet, and seriously underutilized.)
Step two: treat it like a full-time work day. Schedule out your days and make a doc of all the open roles. (Finding employment is a volume game.) If you're comfortable with freelance, try doing a bit of that in the meantime.
Be sure to get at least 20 minutes of exercise/meditation in every day if you can. Force yourself.
Lastly, don't forget to have fun, at least once a week. There are so many things you can do during a weekday that you can't when you have a job. Take advantage! (For instance, go to a beach or museum that's usually packed.)
You're gonna have a lot of downs but you just gotta keep your head up. Just remember, this too shall pass!
Also, start exercising daily if you aren’t already. And eat healthy. Cut out processed stuff and added sugars. It will help with mood- depression plus you’ll look and feel better
Go check out that corpse flower in NY botanical garden. Then walk around the whole garden including that wooded bit by Bronx river. So beautiful and calming.
Make some art you enjoy making. Brush up your resume and try for some freelance gigs just to keep yourself in gear. Enjoy summer. Decide where and how you want to work next. Then go make it happen
Also, here’s some great volunteer opportunities https://patagonia.catchafire.org/projects/?utm_source=em&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=062918_M_Shorts&ett=157400439
Get up early and try not to sleep in too late. Just getting up at a decent hour will make you feel productive. And like everyone says, definitely leave your apartment. Work at a cafe, visit a museum, beach, etc. And remember, getting laid off is a right of passage in advertising. It happens to everyone and it will happen again. But know you’ll find work eventually. In the meantime keep busy by doing freelance or side projects. There is no good time to be unemployed, but at least in the summer you have the sun. Hang in there!

@havas 1 I do!!!!!!!
Sending good vibes. I was there last year and my only regret is that I didn’t enjoy my “time off” more... The good thing is I got more time for my hobbies and made some new friends (who were also in the same boat - laid off). Also I finally committed to seeing a psychotherapist. I would recommend doing the same - now that you’ve got the time do things you normally would love to do if you had the time. I’m assuming since you were laid off you have unemployment money so at least you have some income to get by. Good luck! A lot of us have been there, and you’ll get through it!
All this info is awesome. Thanks so much
