Same as ps1. I was working 60 hours a week. I went hiking on the weekends, kayaking, and swimming.
I am still working off the weight. I try not to give myself a hard time about it. My body did make a pretty cool kid.
Does propelling my body successfully to the places I needed to be count? It certainly felt like it did.
I went to barre class once a week on Saturdays... I could only do 1 thing a day when pregnant - work (including commuting to/from work in NYC) during the week and a workout on Saturday. Just walk a lot on the days you can’t workout
Nothing. And less than nothing with the second. I walked but not much! Even that felt like an effort.
I was extremely sick during both of mine. Headaches, nausea, the works. Needless to say walking was an accomplishment and I could not even imagine doing anything beyond that. I packed on 60lbs during each pregnancy, lost all of it and then some within 6 months each time and went back to regular work out regimen without problems. Be kind to yourself.
I’m not a medical professional by any means and haven’t done research on this - but I do know there’s been a big push to think of lifestyle movement factors (eg walking to/from somewhere, doing housework, etc) as spurts of exercise vs viewing it in an all or nothing way. So for example if you take the stairs 3x that can be say 15 min, plus walk to /from work is say 20 min, etc. maybe you can squeeze in some gentle yoga moves in the pm... and bam you’ve done lots already.
totally this. more movement is better and more sustainable than "working out." I couldn't work out during pregnancy (placenta previa) so I got into walking/easy hikes and it's so pleasant and also was easy to keep up with once my daughter was born.
Currently preggo. My OB just said ok to keep on doing what I was doing (obvi some things you’re not supposed to do) and make sure I can still talk normally when working out.
I was high risk and not recognized to exercise pretty early on, so I walked, every morning 3 ish miles until around the 8/9th month. I’d get a latte on the walk. My doc had said that a full fat latte was about the number of calories I needed above my regular diet. So that helped me make sure I was getting that extra (I was not into food most of the time/ the smells!).
I credit the walking (and genetics) with gaining slowly and ending up leaving the hospital only 9lbs over pre pregnancy weight. That 9 lbs was hard to loose but I felt strong and that helped a lot with not feeling like I was staring from zero.
Ultimately I guess it’s about listening to/ following your body - if you don’t feel well or are tired maybe it’s better to just do something gentle that isn’t a huge mental / physical burden vs force yourself to workout for an hour at the gym.
I tried really hard to maintain a similar routine to before pregnancy- so tried for 4-5 days of cardio and 1 prenatal yoga a week. I was in spin class 3 days before my first baby! 2nd kid took more of a toll on my body so was more like 3-4 a week but more prenatal yoga!
Currently ending the 1st trimester and hoping my energy returns in a few weeks so I can get back to working out. Multiple pitches and extra meds to make me drowsy = zero workouts besides walking my dog.
I just went to work and came back home walking. 8km in total. Everyday 👍🏻

For my first I just worked with a trainer 1x/week. The second... zero. That being said, there are a couple of pregnant mamas in my Orange Theory class, they just modify everything.
I found a pre-natal yoga class that I loved just for the stretching and meditation.
1st trimester i was exhausted, so tried to just enjoy naps for the first time in my life! probably worked out 3 times a week in 2nd and 3rd trimester, loved Barre, Peloton bike and Fhitting Room (trainers gave great adjustments and know their stuff). Long walks one day a week really helped keep swelling away.
