After a decade in a fast-paced Level 1 trauma center, I took a leap and joined a rural clinic. It's definitely a culture shock - less chaos, longer patient relationships, but also fewer specialists and equipment. I miss the adrenaline rush, but I'm enjoying the slower pace. Anyone else traded the city for the countryside? How did you adjust to the change in resources and pace? Any tips for making the most of this new environment?

I didn't move to the country side per se, but I did move away from a big HCOL city to a smaller mid-size city and the culture difference is still substantial. People actually say hi when you walk by them on the street lol! I think having a little bit less resources is worth the trade for me because I feel much more calm overall as a person now that I'm not in a big bustling city. I also feel like the slower pace allows for more quality relationships so I'm enjoying it

I know that feeling very well OP and they are WAY different. I feel like people either love it or they hate it because some people really thrive in a fast paced environment so they often miss it. I, however, do not miss the ER at all. I do much better in a slower more peaceful environment.

I think the most important thing is to give yourself time to adapt.

And the reason I mentioned lean PCOS is because it seems for others with PCOS part of the fertility path is diet/exercise/weight loss but I am already very tiny.
