5 or so would be pretty fast. For salary maybe 225 or so once you make SM.
Thanks EY1

2 years post MBA to Manager, 3-4 years as Manager to Senior Manager is pretty typical.
Not sure what MBA seniors start at for Business Consulting but assuming it's 140-150k, 250 as a 1st year SM sounds reasonable.

Cool, are you starting in September?

5 or 6 years is pretty standard.
Depending on performance and cost of living, salary as a first year senior manager might be anywhere from $170 to $210.

Also, would factor in that pay band and target salaries grow each year. If you're modeling things out, a conservative assumption would be to assume 2% you growth

$170-$210? MBA Srs come in $150-170. Seems low.

Ahh ok. Helpful.
Any strategies to make manager after first year as an MBA senior ? I have substantial pre MBA experience if that helps my case (non consulting though )

Most of the people I have seen do it are either prior consultants, or people who fall into running a project that was identical to one they did in industry.
The reason it typically takes 2 years is that in the first year, you are learning basic consulting and firm navigation skills (how to communicate with clients, how to manage clients, how to run work streams, how to interact with leadership, where to get material and how to leverage it, how to work across service lines, how to do all the quality and economics activities for proposals and delivery...).
They are pretty hesitant to promote people without proof of sustained performance (i.e., not just on one project) in many of these areas.
