Target date funds are awful, bottom of the barrel funds. If you’re under 50, everything should be in growth/S&P 500 funds. Over 50, you can incorporate some fixed income (no more than 25% of portfolio).
I'm weighing the pros and cons, but S&P 500 is starting to look better. Aside from the fees taken out of the target date funds, S&P 500 might be less volatile.
I've read that the target fund are less volatile due to flow they load up on bonds as they approach the target date
60/40 split and reallocate quarterly ( lg cap/ nasdaq) great growth. No bonds
No Dow Jones industrial index in that mix?
This is why I pay my FA the big bucks. LOL
