Yeah totally! There is so many facets to mechanical engineering that you can split into , although when you go to work at bigger corps you don’t get as much hands on with the process , you high level manage the process , startups are the way to go to get hands on with the entire cycle , designing , manufacturing, testing, prototyping etc

Mechanical engineering is the thing of last revolution, the sad part about this field is the slow growth. You will interact with all the generations starting from boomers.

Mechanical engineering can range widely from highly detailed and intense analysis for stress, thermal management, lubrication and wear, and fatigue and life analysis. For the most technically intense aspects, that would gravitate toward individual parts & components. At the other end of technical intensity is HVAC and energy management. To get involved with looking at whole systems, and not just individual parts, morion control and movement mechanisms in robotics and design of manufacturing/production equipment is most likely to closely align with your interests. My first job out of college was in turbomachinery design and it became obvious if you wanted to stay technical and not move into supervision and management you would likely need to become an expert or absolute guru on VERY narrow areas of technology, like turbine blades or disks. We kind of snickered at one engineer who was the guru for nuts, bolts, and fasteners but the advantage for him was that those things were used in every single model of turbine and he was the go to person for everything in that realm, If your design of more specialized individual components was successful and problem free you would probably will never hear about it use in the end products.

Hi. I’m in need of advice and encouragement. I’m currently working as a public defender(2nd year) but I would love to pursue a solo private practice. I would like to leave the public defender because I am ready to make more money and I am no longer feeling the fulfillment I once felt. I have a family and work-life balance is a priority. What is a good way to gain experience in other areas of law as a solo practitioner? What areas of law are best for maintaining a work-life balance?

I have started a side hustle with two friends. It's Climate Tech related. We have been working with it for the past year as a part-time hustle. We want to take it to the next stage.

My two other friends have a background in consultancy and one of them had a mentor who is really high up at a Big4. He would like to join the start up as a Partner. He seems really experienced and could help raising money, although he does not seem to care about climate change.

What would be a good offer?
