Am considering ideas / problems to solve for starting a new business. This will be my second time as an entrepreneur. I want to go big or go home. Any ideas people think I should work on? Would love to hear all and any thoughts.

Hook me up with the CTO title, we’ll burn through some of your savings then I’ll exit to industry with a promotion. Sound fair in exchange for my half baked ideas?

When I’m buying furniture I find myself paying for design rather than for materials, size, etc.

No way these well designed but small pieces should cost the same as a four piece sectional that’s not as well designed. Someone’s gonna make well designed and comfy furniture that’s not an arm and a leg (cross between west elm and ikea)

Yep. I have a bunch of ideas but am not fully convinced by any of them. Casting the net wide for inspiration.

Yeah, work on finding a problem and then solving it better than anyone else has (bonus points if you’re the first to solve it)

Don’t work backwards by starting at the solution, you’ll probably fail that way.

Thanks for offering to work on our ideas mr Vice President

Seriously though, without offering either credentials (the unfair advantage, expertise or seed cash you have) and some call to building a team, I’m not sure where you were hoping this would go?

I’m currently an HR specialist and trying to decide what I want my future to look like. I would like to step away from the transactional, administrative HR work. I’m fascinated by employee satisfaction and like the idea of helping to improve retention and leveraging metrics to improve toxic work environments (I’ve seen a fair share of dysfunction in my career). I’m thinking the Consultant route may be best for this. Any other thoughts of roles or titles that may align?

I am looking into the CCP (Certified Compensation Professional). It seems to be quite an expensive exam.

If anyone else is studying, let me know and maybe we can share study materials!

For those who have taken it, are there any cheaper or alternative study materials to any official guides you would recommend? I went this route with the PHR and SHRM-SCP and passed each on the both try, so I wanted to see if that method may be viable here. Any recommended order to take courses in?

I work at an manufacturing company as a technician. My job title is a technician but they use me as an engineer as-well. There are three techs overall in the company. My boss who hired me understands what my degree is in so he uses me to design parts and write reports. The plant manager doesn’t know my skills so anytime I’m in the office working he calls me to the floor to do something the other techs can do. Should I have a talk with the boss about it?
