I am joining AWS with a 4 month old. I would appreciate the extra money, but scared about the lack of wlb and the cut throat culture there.

Nah just know your limits. No reason to over extend yourself if it won’t work long term. Try to make it work on your terms and if it doesn’t then move on.
I have two kids, one just a couple months ago. One kid was manageable, although my client workload was only 40-45 hours per week. With a second kid, I’m definitely looking into exit ops as I don’t think it’ll be sustainable with my increasing responsibilities if I wanted to move up in the company.
Same boat. Currently on paternity leave with my second. I think it’s doable but not sustainable long term if you want to have an actual relationship with your kids. I’m holding on as long as I can just for the pay but looking at exit opps to eventually find a good balance.
Depends on which firm and how their WLB is
Well, what's your support system like?
I think it’s manageable if you set expectations with your management team, and maintain strong boundaries to not work after hours.
Thanks! How would you approach that? Is it ok to say you have a newborn? I’m mainly trying to not get staffed on travel projects if possible
Yes
Much respect though btw
Ha thx. PwC
Are you a single parent?
Therefore, you have a support system. I have been there before and you will be okay. I have a one-year-old. I was a consultant while taking care of my now one-year-old. My spouse and I did it so can you!
Yes
I joined Deloitte when my first child was 6 weeks old. I have 3 kids now. WLB is fine and I’m able to drive carpool, take kids to appointments, etc.
Wow. Maybe not crazy, but bold!
It really depends on which team you are joining. In EY my hours were brutal in Business Consulting, I started within Tech Consulting which had better WLB
I left EY after my paternity leave, business Consulting hours were not sustainable for me personally, 12-14 hours every day was too much
