I’m on the analytic consulting side of spectrum, if I’m coding it’s an emergency (I can still sling code but active practitioners would dunk on me)

I’ve been rewarded with lots of promos and the pay package you see above, but I’m teetering at the edge of burnout over arguably dumb stuff

Fantastic thread - wondering how many people in this group are U.K. based to have a U.K. focused salary thread like this?

Not OP, but I am on the strategy side and also prefer public sector projects. WLB is amazing. Most days it's 9-5, weekends off, Fridays half days (not many meetings), managers/partners are patient, No hard deadlines (projects often get extended), and really feel like I make an impact at the end of the day.

On the other hand if you enjoy the fast pace, quick decisions, and clear scope then you will find the public sector boring.

This type of role is more common for companies earlier on in their analytics journey and still getting their footing using data. For companies further along, yeah of course they'll want to move more towards data SCIENCE and use modeling and ML. But it takes time to get there.

Should I negotiate without any competing offers?

Company: Walmart Tech Labs
Location: Hoboken
Base: 150k
Bonus: 24k (16%)
RSU: 25k / year for 3 years

Offered TC: 180k
YOE: 3

I initially thought TC was 199k, but it’s actually 180k. Should I say something like “I was expecting 220. Is there anything you can do like a sign on bonus/raise base a bit to help get to 220?” To see if they can bump it up a bit?

I just don’t want to negotiate and get the offer rescinded.

As I’ve applied for other firms, I’ve been denied interviews based on how my boss is perceived in the community. I’ve gathered professional references from opposing attorneys and other attorneys we work with but still can’t land. Help

Can someone explain how PTO works in house? I have only ever worked at a firm, starting my first in house position end of this month. I’m used to just blocking off time on my calendar if I have an appointment (like the rare occasion I have a dental appointment, well child checkup, etc) and then going. Do I really need to take PTO for these things? I’ll be working remotely 3-4 days a week for reference and I’m talking about days when I’m remote.

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?
