Any attorneys exit PA for tax counsel jobs? Besides going to a law firm, what exits have you seen people make? Not interested in big law as I am already losing my mind working these covid hours.

They exist. I have interviewed (and received a couple offers at smaller companies). I have ultimately stayed big 4 (at least for now), largest reason was the company just was not a fit for me and I wasn’t ready to make that move - just not enough extra money to give up on things I enjoy about my current position.

What would you consider a good exit opportunity? Also, mind if I ask what sort of tax you do?

I’m in tax so I really only know this market but from my perspective theres plenty of exit opportunities but they really depend on where you sit in Deloitte. You can go to most industry in tax positions if you do BTS or MTS but the more niche service lines may have trouble accessing these. You can switch to a law firm - best service lines for this would be M&A, Controversy, MTS. The more niche roles in PA may be able to find more niche roles in industry (mobility tax/equity/international tax/ transfer pricing roles)

Had a connect with Infosys hr regarding a job position. The salary offered didn't match my expectation. I asked if he could revise it, he said it's not his call but, will discuss with the management and see if I could get a higher level. Will he call me back or is it a dead end? I am a newbie at switching job. Never had a negotiation before in terms of salary.

Hello Deloitte USI Managers, I have been with the firm for about 4.5 years with a total work exp of 5.5 years as a Financial Advisor (FP&A). I am probably going to be promoted to Scon this year. What would be a ideal Internal switch role suiting my experience? I would want to continue with Deloitte as it is an amazing firm to work with with great work life balance. Thank you.

Interviewing for a role at Apple but found the same role at Meta this week. I applied to the position and reached out to a few recruiters via LinkedIn (haven’t received a response, sure they are swamped). Meta is remote whereas Apple is not, really hoping I can interview at Meta as the role is a perfect fit. Am I to late to do a referral? Would anyone be willing to help? Thank you in advance!!

New fish looking for career guidance. I'm a corporate recruiter with 3 years of experience. Finishing my degree in HRM 5/2022. I'm thinking of getting my SHRM -CP shortly after graduation. I'm not sure of where to go after that, but I doubt I will stick with recruiting or my current firm. Has anyone here started off in recruiting and branched out to other HR functions? Do you like your new role? Do you wish you stuck with recruiting?

Need advice: baby is 8 months. We started her in daycare at 6 months. Liked the daycare but concerned because not all caregivers were vaccinated. Liked daycare overall because we wanted to not manage anyone, socialization, etc. We got more nervous with Covid as daycare did not mandate after FDA approval and other mandates came out. We found a nanny share and informed the daycare we are pulling her out - the director calls me and says the remaining teachers have received the 1st dose. Cont.

I don’t understand who gave the confidence to the politicians bragging how prepared their districts/cities/states are prepared for COVID. I live in suburb Jersey and cannot find any testing location opening in the foreseeable future under $120. I just want to see if I have covid. It’s not for travel and stuff. Do I really have to pay that much? Guess my best option is to travel to the City and get tested at the pop up testing tents. No wonder why COVID spreads. Rant over, symptom continues

Hi friends, I’m in a bit of a dilemma, and was hoping for some feedback here. I am a Canadian citizen, and have been living and working in the US since 2017 on an L1A visa. I decided to pursue a GC about a year ago, and my company approved the process. Our immigration attorneys were far from helpful, and my case didn’t get very far. Fast forward a year, our company has been acquired, and my GC case has now been transferred to a new legal team. The process is basically restarting from scratch.

Articling student in Canada (8 month internship with potential hireback), currently doing transactional work. I’m WFH and having a hard time building relationships with partners. I’m friendly/chat with associates and am on great terms with one partner who gives me work often, but not much else. The firm “encourages” reaching out to partners to chat, though I’ve tried and been essentially ignored. Partners rarely have enough time to give me feedback, so I feel they don’t have time to chat.
