We had a tiny baby so did the dream feed until about 6 months then gave it up and focused on more food in the day and us just sleeping. Definitely tried not to wake up. Picking the kid up will do enough light waking. If they have the bottle at their lips and don’t want it… they likely don’t want it period. That’s also a sign to just stop doing the dream feed (esp if kid is gaining weight at the right pace).
Talk to your pediatrician, but unless you’re baby is failure to gain and needs to fed at night you may be able to just let them sleep and wake on their own when hungry.
It’s been awhile since I did the nighttime bottle feed though
Don’t wake them up. It’s a sign that baby wants to sleep. We dropped the dream feed around 4 months and he sleeps through the night. Babies will make up the volume during the days
Never wake the baby. They will let you know what they need. At 3 mos, your baby may be going through a massive growth spurt and need the extra sleep. They may come back around to wanting the dream feed, but it sounds like sleep is the priority at the moment.
Echo these other comments. They’re likely good but check with pediatrician if their weight is off - but hey, you’re past the horrible 3 month newborn phase. Congrats - it only gets better from here.
Dang, I loved getting down the sleep/dream feed technique. Our kid was clockwork wakeup every 2 hours to feed, but it awake would take 30-60 minutes to settle back down. I started a gentle pickup and feed just a few minutes before and bam, would sleep right through. Annoyed my wife tho since she wasn't able to ever get a dream feed to work
