Black belt
I think it’s unnecessary but obviously a nice resume padder. I’m a black belt and I rarely find the knowledge applicable. To each his own though
BB here - great credential, but I find I use the Lean components more than sigma. (Lean is eliminating waster and process improvement and true SS is about removing defects). I think the cert is worth it and give me you a rich tool box to pull from. If you can be a kaizen facilitator on top, even better ! Have had amazing results from kaizen and very client interactive, understanding current state, future state and how to get there in 3-4 day workshops
I'm a black belt and use the knowledge on every project. If it's something that interests you, I think getting a black belt is valuable. If you don't want to work on process improvement and implement change, it's not really worth it.
Any recommendations of cert programs and avg cost?
I received my black belt in industry. I would speak to your firm and see if they'll sponsor you for the cert. If you're trying to pivot, see if there is training available on your internal platform.
Vanderbilt is well respected but not cheap at $4095 if it's out of your own pocket.
