I recently gave my small firm notice that I am leaving and moving to another state. I mentioned that I am considering starting my own practice in the new area, and the managing partner suggested that I transition to an “of counsel” position at a 1099 hourly rate (remote) while I got started. I thought the rate was a bit low, but I’m not sure what to compare it to. Anybody have any experience with these arrangements? Any advice on how to structure? Or if it’s worth it? I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

EY rejected me and emailed me again after 2 months for a Audit opening. Are they playing with my feelings?

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

At what point do you folks just give up on working through an excel problem? I swear I could have saved time adding everything individually, but it would be a blow to my excel ego.
