No such thing as a vacation anymore mate, it’s just coaching an away game now.
But in all honesty it’s just about adjusting your expectations of what you’re gonna so at the destination - and the longer you wait to travel, the harder it will get to start. At least an infant isn’t running around; a toddler is much harder to travel with
Hahaha i love this. Coaching an away game is so spot on
Lol.. Just go now.. This is the easiest period now .. It gets impossible as they grow up. One year old - they are just in a place. Either crying for food or sleeping. Just need diaper change and a bottle. I have a 5 year old now and it's impossible to do anything. So just go on ur vacation now.. Im sure u have that carrying thing. Just have the baby in there all day and move to stroller now and then..and take turns in carrying and most importantly don't give a fuk abt what others will go thru if ur kid cries in the plane. Just get something for noise canceling tho. Either a head phone or something else. Landing and take off hurts the little one ears.
This is true. When your kid is mobile and running, you’re screwed.
I’d say go on vacation but find alternate things to do with the child… unless kids are self sufficient, vacations can have a different meaning (and believe me, they aren’t that bad either).
I have four kids. It’s all about organization, prioritizing, and keeping bedtimes consistent for the adults to recuperate. My kids also have a “chore” of sorts while we vacation like pack up your bags, older ones set up breakfast for younger ones, etc. Since your child is still a baby/toddler, you’ll be stuck in this mode until they get a little older, but it gets better.
We also schedule vacations without the kids as well to prioritize our well being together.
Please don’t postpone.
It’s easier than expected
Just be sensible with expectations, plan ahead and communicate well.
I imagine a good proportion of 8bn people on earth have travelled as babies/kids. It’s all fine
Wow, it gets harder?! For some strange reason this motivates me to keep the vacation plans after all. The thing is this kid is so full of energy I feel drained just watching him craw around, lick stuff and yell
Just wait until they can walk and talk.
Youngest just hit 7. We are only now vacationing without grandparents or a babysitter. Sometimes we go with another family. Kids basically constant attention so bring them a playmate.
We have 4 kids all close in age (oldest is 6) and have done vacations at all those ages and stages and one kid under 1 is a really fun time to vacation, so definitely go for it! If you’re worried about being nap trapped, don’t worry. Just do whatever you guys want to do, and it’ll usually distract them enough to be happy during their missed nap or else they’ll crash hard whenever in the carrier/wagon/car or back at your place. We have a Tula and Wonderfold wagon which we like because it can double as a playpen for the crawling stage. But like others said, it does get a little trickier as they get more mobile, still fun though, you’ll all have a blast!
where you goin?
Best advice is try to go with family so you have more hands.
But overall, this thread has great advice! Definitely just plan to go, pack their things, and try to enjoy the moments. Rememebr they are still kids so you will still have the frustrations. Be patient, and try to enjoy. It gets easier each time.
Depends on the family! Ours just made life worse. Sounded good in theory to us at least.
