skip San Francisco if you're wallet isn't a bottomless pit of wealth. Born and raised and sick of how expensive it is.
🤦♂️🙅♂️
Oh boy, you have quite the treat in store for you. All those are amazing destinations. For first trip, I would suggest SF Bay Area with Napa, Carmel, Monterrey, Big Sur, etc. LA/ San Diego is a different trip as is Seattle/ Portland or Lake Tahoe. Enjoy!!
Portland if you like homeless people and nature is laugh out loud funny.
Fly into LA, spend a few days around the beaches, rent a car to check out Big Sur/Monterey (~6hr) then end in San Fran. How am I on logistics?
San Diego. End of story
Portland if you like homeless people and nature.
San Diego for the best Mexican food and the Gaslamp.
All those places plus Yosemite
uh, sadly EY1, yes it is, lol
Also for a trip not involving Cali, fly into Vegas or Phoenix and drive through the parks of northern Arizona and southern Utah. Tremendous natural beauty up there. Sedona, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, slot canyons near Page AZ, Lake Powell, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Arches etc etc. some of my favorite trips and I like to do them in Sep/Oct after the heat of summer and before there's much snow around. Another trip to Teton and Yellowstone is absolutely worth it.
Establishing these national parks were among the better ideas this country has had.
Same with SF, that's not dog shit on the sidewalk
^human
haha that's true, but my point was plenty of dog owners don't pick up after their pets, see it happen more often than it should, similar to analysts arriving late to work
LA and SF also have a lot of homeless people OP
Same with San Diego
I highly recommend Big Sur and the LA-SF drive on the PCH in general (hit up Malibu, Santa Barbara, Solvang, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Monterey etc) but note that winter storms caused some landslides that have part of the SLO-Monterey section of the PCH closed for major repairs, so research ahead of time the current and expected detours or do it next year.
Fly in to SFO and drive straight up to Santa Rosa/Sonoma. Don’t waste you’re time/money on Napa. Or fly in to Reno and drive up to Tahoe in the summer or winter.
Start in Seattle. As interesting as Portland (and food, beer even better IMO) without the slightly crazed hipster vibe. Then drive south via Mount Rainier NP (depending on time of year), skirt Portland (the Alberta district is terrific, and calmer vibe than the centre) and head down to Oregon wine country.
Skip Portland and go to wine country for sure ^
Fly into SFO, spend a couple of days in the city, then drive down the coast to Carmel, Monterey, Big Sur, etc. Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz are nice stopping points.
Just go to Maui op
San Diego. Super Cheap and good food! Guarenteed perfect weather.
