I worked and lived in both countries. I am a Canadian citizen and a PR of Singapore. Salaries are lower in Singapore but taxes are significantly lower too. Except for housing, everything else is cheaper in Singapore. My savings potential was slightly more in Singapore. I worked there for a few years to get some international experience and warmer weather. It also gave me an opportunity to travel to many countries in Asia Pacific. My family is from India and staying in Singapore for a few years helped to visit them often. But it was not a place I would settle down, so I moved back to Canada and eventually settled in California
OP - I make almost 3 times more than what I used to make in Canada. I live in SoCal, weather is phenomenally better than Canada with access to beautiful beaches, mountains and deserts for outdoor activities throughout the year. Don’t get me wrong, I love Canada but not a big fan of the weather and lower salaries/career opportunities.
True. Why would you need a car in Singapore! Taxi is cheap, MRT is good and country is safe. You don't need to worry about frost bite
I always felt cars in Singapore are more status symbols than necessity. Unless you have a larger family, taxis, MRT and Grab will be much more convenient. Aside from the initial purchase - the seasonal parking around the cbd area where most b4 offices are located is also quite expensive.
