Maybe a career break travelling or taking time to pursue a personal hobby or interest post pandemic might give you a fresh perspective/open up new opportunities for you to think about as a career change. If you’ve been working for 20 years and this isn’t for you, it might be time to bite the bullet and make a drastic change even if it means downsizing. You only live once after all. Think about how you’ll feel on your deathbed looking back on a career that you were bored doing, when you could have done something you might have loved.

In a predicament need some thoughts: I’m getting offered a new role (not a promotion, just a new role within my project) that has more lead level responsibilities. It seems if I take this role and do well at it, I could potentially get promoted mid year or end year. Now, this is coming at an interesting time when I was already looking to transition to a new company - an immediate transition will get me a quicker salary bump that I would otherwise have to wait a bit to get at my current company

Current comp is near the top of the band for a role I was offered. If I jumped I would be taking a ~7% increase while I was hoping for something closer to 20%. Is it possible to counter and push past the band? I was offered a raise during my interview process so the original jump of 15% was decreased to 7% based on my new salary.

Got offered a CEO role for a small startup where the IP owner just wants to be the Product guy and wants me to run things. At this point he knows he can’t afford me, but is allowing me to structure what would work for me to come over and run his business to allow him to focus on product. What is a reasonable ask in terms of ownership and base comp? Current total company $250 and he knows this.

Please advise!!! Partner on my project did me a huge favour by pulling some strings to get me an off cycle comp revision In Feb. Now I have an offer from outside, it's still at least 20 percent higher than revised comp. Any advice on what I should do, if I leave would it burn bridges, would the partner take it professionally? FYI, Next comp revision in Deloitte will be in June, and I don't anticipate that to be more than 5%.
