Is congizant doing layoffs?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

They aren't technically layoffs, just clearing out people who weren't assigned for the foreseeable future because of poor ratings...it was a regular clearing of house and not driven by anything specific
A manager told me it's a lot of second years who weren't cut out to be seniors
These aren't rumors. Layoffs across the board. Some are performance related but some cities are overstaffed and needed a reduction in headcount. Expect more next year from the implementation of Audit 2.0 and USI.
So start dates for incoming auditors and tax people won't be impacted?
It wasn't just second years, senior managers down to second years were cut...and naturally there was a larger pool of second years to make cuts from
Layoffs are primarily hitting S&O bc too many people were hired last year in anticipation of people leaving the firm to take industry jobs. No one left so now there's an overabundance of benched consultants
I don't think start dates will be impacted...if anything they were making room for incoming classes so you should be fine
