Has anyone interviewed with Amazon in the last 6 months. I finished my loop for a finance role. It’s been 8 business days and no update from the recruiter. I mailed the recruiter who said apologies for the delay but we will get back to you with next steps. Has anyone had this experience and what was the outcome Amazon

Very difficult. I left that job immediately after senior promo for FP&A but had to scratch and claw my way out of IA. Almost switched into FDD but decided it wasn't for me. Most places shut the door on you once they find out you're an IT/Internal auditor.
I also had masters and CPA, but I think the additional things you need are:
- Push to be placed on true advisory engagements (in the IA group, they may call these operational audits or process improvement; way more marketable on your resume than controls/compliance)
- Upskill (IA/IT audit doesn't teach you many technical skills, so learn advanced excel, alteryx, Tableau, etc on your own)
- Story (do strong research into the field you want and how your unique background can translate)
- Network (if they think you're a moldable employee, they may be okay with you not having the perfect background; also look for referrals)
- Luck/timing (hot job market, turnover in your desired department, etc)
I recommend leaving ASAP or maybe right after senior promo at the latest. IA/IT audit really pigeonholes you if you stay too long.
Passing the CPA comes first, so focus on that. Maybe ask for some client variety as well, so that you'll have a more broad experience before you attempt to leave.
Do you have an accounting degree/ CPA?
Yea I have my masters in accounting, CPA is in progress

I have the same exact issue. I’m getting amazing interviews but they stop dead in their tracks when they realize I’m in IT audit even though I have a masters and cpa.
What level are you? I’m still a staff 2 so I’m praying it’s not too late :’(
It's tough, I did breaking into wall street prep course which was helpful to prep and refresh on stuff learned in college. Also need to have a story for the career change.and why you think you'll be successful in the new role. I highlighted projects led, coaching junior staff, leading client meetings, but also had a reason why I wanted to make a career change. If you have channel two - "consulting" experience highlight that as well.
Have you worked on non-IT audit projects? I am in Technology Risk, but also had chance to work on ERP implementation, and Cyber assessment, so highlighted those experience in resume and interview, and landed a job outside of IT audit.
No I’ve actually only been on a single client my entire time with the firm. I have done business process/IA work but no cyber or ERP
Have you done SOX testing on this client? I’m actually in the same boat and currently in the interview process myself.
Hopefully I’ll make it all the way but what got my the interview was definitely highlighting my SOX testing experience, working with the external auditors, project management coaching/guiding staff, being able to do research etc. Try and look at the actual post too and see if you can relate anything back to your current responsibilities.
This is helpful, ty!!
