Airport security was easy to get through. No lines anywhere. Less planes taking off and landing but my planes were surprisingly packed.
Recently traveled out west to visit sick family. Airport lines really light, but planes going and coming back were packed (middle seats filled). Everyone wears a mask, but it’s obvious that some take this thing more serious than others. Most restaurants at DFW are open business as usual (patrons sitting at the bar, no significant social distancing guidelines). No in-flight snacks or beverage service.
Yes, it’s for a vacation. No, I don’t need a lecture! :)
Seems like airlines have found sweet spot of flights to cancel. Not nearly as many flights going out, but for the ones that are, they’re nearly at capacity.
SFO —> ORD —>IAD and return a week ago
Flight I usually do direct, but lack of flights that worked with schedule meant a 5hr journey became an 8 hour journey.
Did a redeye there- flight packed I was in Polaris, no service but you sleep the whole time so who cares.
Airports fairly full but nothing open at ORD except sbux & McDonald’s. Line for sbux at 6am was ok, - about 15 mins- not so on return (on return waited for 35mins at about 8am- had to give up when still more than halfway from ordering).
Clear at SFO closed, open at IAD. Everyone in masks at each airport And continuous announcements to practice Social distancing. If you’re flying out of SFO after 6 everything is closed. The Japanese restaurant in the international terminal is however open. This was necessary as I was three hours early for flight owing to curfew in sf (had to leave home before
8pm).
Sanitizer on plane and no service for overnight. ORD —> IAD empty aisle seats - no coffee service or any service other than bottled water and packaged snacks.
IAD empty- had been warned people mover not operating but it was and got out super fast-
Way back basically the same except for sbux at ORD... which was packed.
Generally a pleasant experience and felt very communal (not in an unsafe way, more a “isn’t this interesting to be flying again” type of way).
I traveled from Ohio to Texas over Memorial Day. Same experience as above, including packed flights — the empty seat approach seems to vary by regional partner/carrier.
If you’re stopping in SC there’s a good chance you won’t think the virus is even real by how people are operating here.
In reality, we are spiking significantly in positive test results.
