Most people in the US are struggling with how much everything costs now, this isn’t isolated to CLT. The fun part is there is no solution outside of winning the lottery. Or I guess you could try and job hop for a raise, but if you’re white collar, that market ain’t great right now. I am guessing your income isn’t low enough for government assistance or food banks, at which point the solution is get a second job or reduce your spending. It’s not like everyone else is sitting here on financial “hacks”, we’re stopping subscriptions, buying less food, going out less. But that’s depressing, and people would rather ask for a hack than reality. I get it. I do. I’m sorry.
Agreed that it’s not just Charlotte, but my fiancé and I make ~175k/yr and we’re saving for our wedding and it does feel like we’re paycheck to paycheck (since we need to save so much for the wedding). Some of our monthly bills look like this: Groceries $475, Going out/takeout $310, Fun money $100/each, Apartment items $60. There’s not much of a hack aside from strict budgeting and cutting spend or getting a 2nd job. But one things for certain, vote Red this November or it will most likely get worse.
1. Too late for that
And 2. Nah that’s not what we want for a wedding
same here, just try to start some business side on the side or maybe other projects, since you're a developer
Yep, I’m close to it though I do contribute to 401k. Any savings I get seem to go to car expenses or healthcare expenses pretty quickly so hard to keep too much in savings and still pay everything. I just started a side gig that will give me a bit of breathing room.
How much do you make?
