Hi fishers! I have offer and signed contract with Deloitte UK and my start day is in the beginning of April. I need skilled worker visa, and we haven’t applied yet for that. Screening and onboarding is in progress. Immigration team doesn’t reply since reached me out 1st time. How much time does it usually needed to go through the whole process? How many days take for visa to be approved since application?Deloitte

That's weird. As a junior associate I generally assume partners dont even know how to access the file where I saved the work.
Or did they not do it until you followed up and then do it quickly and send…?
Coach
That’s definitely my MO.
I think they just may not realize it especially if they went K-JD. The first assignment I ever got I did in a timely manner and I just left it saved on the system because I was a little nervous to email the partner that I was done, and didn’t know if it was expected. The partner then asked me two days later about it and when he heard what happened he just explained to me that if I don’t notify that I’m done, he’s not gonna go rummaging around the file to see if it’s been done. Obviously I should’ve realized this, but nerves and inexperience can get the better of you real fast

I get this for a first assignment, but I have third years who do this…

Sometimes I am guilty of this when I finish something but then someone calls me or an email comes in and then in my head I’ve done the task but forget that I haven’t sent it out…
I haven’t seen it in practice but have seen a couple Fishbowl posts suggesting this as a tactic for coasting. The idea being that they won’t get a new assignment from that attorney until they turn in the existing assignment.

Ugh that makes sense.

I’ve seen that too, but A2 seems to be right.
Not a junior, but if you're grabbing a draft from the system before the associate sends it to you, please don't assume that the draft is ready for you. My firm has a partner who does this frequently (and way ahead of deadlines) even though the associate hasn't finished their draft.

A3 - I had a junior recently get their laptop stolen and they had saved a week’s worth of work locally only. 🙃

Yep. Very odd
