Our CEO started off our weekly agency wide meeting by addressing it and saying how upset he is. This is why I’m proud to work here.
I think it’s very telling that when asked about the news, most of you landed on Coronavirus and not the bigger issue of racism and police brutality against black people in America that is fueling mass riots. Of course that’s not what you thought about, because you feel unaffected. Please recognize your privilege in being oblivious to this issue and choose to be an ally for your black co-workers (all 5 of them depending where you work) and understand that they are not okay!
You do come across as a complainer.
Thankfully, no. My agency is doing an open door sessions with HR to create safe places for employees to express themself, feel all the emotions, focusing on our mental health...

👏👏👏
Thankfully we closed the office today
What would you want them to do?
SVP 1, tell us your name and your agency.
You’re not saying anything so you’re good. Right?
No one is stopping anyone else from talking about what is happening around the country and the world. Don’t put it on the agency’s mid the higher ups to start a dialogue. It’s not their responsibility.
I think we’re in trouble if we’re citing Nike as taking on systemic injustice. Sure, they produce some arresting ads that would appear to confront important issues. But ask an athlete who’s been dropped by them for having the audacity to get pregnant...or one who’s been abused by one of their sponsored coaches...or any number of other instances where their actions belie their words.
An announcement saying our Black and Brown communities need to be supported more than ever. 'It's ok if someone doesn't want to appear on camera, or needs a personal day. No questions asked.'
They suggested that employees reach out to their teammates and shared articles on what non-PoC allies could do to help during this time.
W&K response
Nike may not be perfect but in my opinion it’s one of the few brands that come off as authentic. They backed Kap. They pay their athletes failry and generously and they are a key player in the movement for college athletes’ ability to earn money off of their likeness.
Being a company that makes billions off Black culture and athletes, they get it.
Bruh, all agency executives are white...they don’t get it and never will and don’t care because it doesn’t effect them. So yeah, they’re not gonna talk about it. Idk about you, but i’m one of three Latinx workers out of a 150+ agency. What do we expect??
With heading back to the office we’re listening to the news. Our creative is getting a bit tone deaf though lol
We put out a spot to address these trying times, you know, so customers know we're there for them in these trying times.
Also been putting a lot of thoughts and prayers into social media.
Other than that, I'm not really sure what else I can do :(

I know (hope) you’re being sarcastic. But if you want a list of things you can do...
Hire, nurture, and promote POC
Have POC in leadership roles (not just head of diversity)
Listen to your employees
Challenge your clients when they do something wrong
Convince your clients to use their platforms to do something right
Don’t spend media dollars supporting groups and organizations that are harmful to minorities
I immediately assumed it was about racism...
What news?

John Wren, the CEO of Omnicom, just sent an email to everyone addressing these events. Quite frankly, I would not feel comfortable working at a place whose executives refuses to speak out.
