People go into consulting out of risk aversion. Whatever the decision you can usually assume someone in consulting with take the least risky approach. Stop agonizing OP, you know you aren't going to leave without an offer.
@OP: says "I have a financial cushion" then brags about gambling. My exact point. There's nothing wrong with being risk averse but don't lie and say you aren't when you are. You know what the safe path is? Asking a bunch of people for advice before deciding and making an informed decision. GTFO with this tangent.
Obviously not EY based on 20-40% bonus comment
No such thing as senior consultant at pwc, kpmg, and maybe EY. So not that hard to guess the last one
I did. Took some time to chill, read, reconnect with people and selectively interview. Having a financial cushion is essential.
Stick to sports SC1
OP ...some firms have a LOA option. If you have that, maybe take it, keep your option to return, then decide after you've had some time to reflect / study / whatever
Just not surrounded by much expertise and work is not satisfying. Considering career switch (MBA) or just self studying data science.
A friend of mine did the exact same thing. He got sick of DDV and was like Eff this shit and quit. He was going to bschool part time and now is taking a full load of classes
He’s from D.. clear giveaway lol.
EY has staff and senior consultants
What firm
A big 4. Want to mask where due to my comment about not being surrounded by expertise. Sorry.
Not KPMG either. Anyway OP I would never do it because it just would stress my out and isn't necessary since you can just take PTO to interview somewhere else if you're truly over it immediately.

Not sure where my title came from and my group is not subject to firm bonus structure. Thanks director1...how long were you Off work for?
I was planning to be off for 6-9 months. But then a recruiter reached out with an opportunity (before I started actively searching) and it felt right so I ended up being off for less than 3 months. Got a lot of personal stuff done in that time and felt clearer about life
Things I'm worried about are: stressing about money (I have a financial cushion but no income might make big expenses stressful). Increased cost of health insurance. Employers might not like a gap on my resume.
It also seems like I am not appreciating what I have. I've been very fortunate with how my career has gone so far and in some ways I'm just throwing all that money away.
Ironic that I play >500 hours of poker per year which includes some pretty big monetary swings. I'm so risk averse.
Good advice, I didn't even think of that. Thanks again.
